Not worth the convenient location
Very old, worn out. Advertised a workout area but equipment was old and did not work. Poor continental breakfast. Water in shower did not get warm enough.

Low cost hotel - not worth the savings
Musty smelling rooms - in terrible need of updating/upgrading - porch/balconies had crumbling ceilings with dry wall tape hanging down, etc... bed spreads were stained (yuk!). Rates on doors were from the '70's when Howard Johnson apparently owned the place (no lie!). Mattress pads only covered part of the beds (yuk again) and the mattress were very old and mushy. We were given 2 small pillows for each bed. The "continental" breakfast consisted of bagels and oranges - that was it. Two nights there and MY BACK IS KILLING ME - that's a first.

Had a great time with our friends, attended a function...
Was disappointed in the service, didn't have our name down---did have another room so that was not a problem. It looked unkept, however the sheets and towels were clean...

Waiting For the Wrecking Ball
I had stayed at this downtown hotel twice before when it was a HoJo's and I was with a group of friends for wine tasting. Now it appears independent, and I doubt there is any corporate supervision. So, now I've had my last stay there until it either is completely renovated or scraped to the ground and reconstructed. First, the location is superb if you're in town for wine tasting or to visit Whitman University. You can walk to everything downtown, and you're halfway between Lowden and Mill Creek Road (great wine districts). And the price was incredible. And...you get what you pay for. My non-smoking room still had the vestiges of years of heavy smoking. And since the walls are painted concrete block, that old smoke must be in the fabrics. Just how old and unwashed are the fabrics? My rickety sliding glass door overlooked what may have been a pleasant enough garden once, but now it features weeds, an uncared-for lawn, and long-neglected shrubs. There is evidence all over the place of years of deferred maintenance so that it appears the cost of bringing the place back to decency would cost more than the value of the buildings. Walla Walla is a great time! It has tons of stuff going for it--it is an increasingly urbane and always relaxing place. Don't make my mistake, though. My great bargain made for a miserable night.

Sightseeing tip:
Long walk from hotel
Just on the edge of downtown Walla Walla is Whitman University and several beautiful, tree-lined streets graced with enchanting homes. Walla Walla was prosperous long, long before the wine industrity developed there.

photos look better than the real thing. appears very shabby from the outside; pool was closed (reason unknkown) while we were there; sound-proofing between rooms not great. but room was spacious and appeared clean; mini-fridge was a plus; very near downtown attractions.

Not like the pictures...
Pretty good location, but the pool was broken, room was pretty poor and people hanging around the over grown grounds were sketchy....

Great Location
We went to daughters wedding. The only thing disappointing was the pool was not working and the hot tub was not working either. It was a nice room.

Just OK
We were visiting Walla Walla for the annual hot air balloon stampede with our Assistance dog. After checking in we found out the hot tub was out of order. Big disappointment as this was one of the reasons we selected this inn. Normally, they do not charge the pet fee for Assistance animals, but we were charged anyway because we did not have any "documentation" for the dog, even though she was wearing her vest and plaquard. We have never been asked for documentaion before and were unprepared. This all set the tone for the weekend. Rain and no hot air balloons, but the city of Walla Walla is beautiful.

Wonderful scenic bike and walking trails at Mill Creek Dam, Bennington Lake and Rooks Park. Downtown Pioneer Park is beautiful with huge shade trees and an exceptional aviary.
