Exactly What I was Looking for

I was in Vancouver for a business conference at the Hilton a few blocks away, which charges $200 per night, charges extra for parking, and has no amenities in the rooms. I'm sick of staying at overpriced mediocre "luxury" hotels that offer nothing extra. The EconoLodge room had a minifridge, microwave, ironing board, hair dryer, coffee pot, free wi-fi and free plentiful parking. It was a short walk to the hilton - just a few blocks. And the room was clean and decent. Great value.

You pay for what you get

Mine was sort o a whirlwind trip for a job interview. I would never take my family to this place. Nor would I stay there with my wife or even by myself again. When I walked to my room there were wet clothes outside on the side walk in front of two or three units. It appeared as though they had been left there for some time. The bathroom smelled, not of cleaner, and there were some blue marks, maybe crayon, on one of the pillows. The fridge and microwave worked fine But the place is quite aways from any grocery store. But there are some nice cafes and sports bars nearby. The service is nonexistent, but I suppose you get what you pay for. I've worked in hospitality and I would never have let someone stay in the room as it was presented to me. But cheap it was. S.Moore

Not good

Attending convention at the Vancouver Hilton down the street. Stayed at the Econo Lodge last year for this same event. This year, the ice machine (there is one) was not working and they had no plans to fix it or to provide ice in an alternative way. Also, if you had not left your room by 11 am, there would be no cleaning service for the day. Also, when I arrived on the first day, there were crumbs and other debris under the footstool and chair which had been missed in the cleanup. Office staff were friendly, but didn't seem to view the guests needs as important in light of the hours they would have cleaning staff present, etc. Very convenient to the Hilton, but I will not be staying there next year as the savings was minimal in comparison to the quality of service.

One block west is a cafe serving Greek gyros. The best I've ever had. Also, terrific onion soup!

A Place to Avoid

This was a terrible place to stay. The A/C could not cool the room. The room smelled poorly. The bathrooms were not cleaned well. The hair dryer did not work. The sheets and pillows were uncomfortable, etc etc etc.

good location for us

the small of cleaning fluid was too strong, I wish they had some less perfumed cleaning fluids to use in some rooms.

Great location, Great price.

My husband & I attended a convention which was held at the Vancouver Hilton and also some classes at the Red Lion. Both were an easy, short walk to get to: 3 blocks to the Hilton & about 6 blocks to Red Lion. Price at Econolodge was probably at least 1/2 the cost at the other two. We were quite comfortable & would stay here again.

Great location

I was attending a convention at the Vancouver Hilton. The Econo Lodge is three short, flat blocks from the Hilton and was half the price. It's old and funky, but met all my needs, including having a refrigerator, microwave, coffee pot, and free computer access in the room. The neighborhood is not "horrifying", but I'd suggest walking in pairs for sure.

cheap way for vancouver convention

Was $60 cheaper than Hilton conference rate, was only 4 very short blocks away and allowed me to leave my car parked so saved $7. in parking each day. room was very clean but older with 2 beds, fridge, microwave, tv, and small sofa. will surely stay next year when I attend the convention.

Really Really Dirty Hole -

This was one of the dirtiest motels I have been to in a long while. I selected it because of the great location in Vancouver - but don't be fooled, it was filthy. It had nicotine stains running down the bathroom walls. The bedding was so "dirty" I slept on top of the bedspread (which wasn't much better). Mattress was horrible. Not a lot of good to say about this awful experience. Don't stay here!!

Good Basic Hotel

This hotel was pretty decent for the price. It is right in the middle of downtown Vancouver and there is easy access to everywhere. Room was very clean but had an unusual odor to it (non-smoking room). You did not notice it after awhile. My only real complaint was that the television had an electronic volume limiter and you could not hear the television when the air conditioning was on. Overall though it was a good experience. I have definitely stayed in worse and definitely stayed in better. Good middle of the road hotel.
