    Quick Seattle getaway

Marginal for the cost, the location is great and the view from the N tower was cool. Check in was poor, long lines with too little help. Our room was supposed to be ready at 3P, but we could not get it until nearly 6p. We had to wander around downtown waiting for our room, when we really wanted to get changed to go out to a nice dinner. Elevators were horrible. We consistently had to wait 10-15 minutes for elevators. This is not a cheap hotel, you would think the service would be better for what the costs are. I would consider Sheraton

    Family Vacation in Seattle

Overall the stay was good. I had read several web posts complaining about smelly & dated rooms. I didn't think it was all that bad and the wife didn't complain so it must have been OK. The location is good, it's a short walk to Pike Place Market. Other hotels we considered we closer to the downtown action than the Westin as the hotel is located a little farter north of the other hotels. There was a convenient bus terminal one block away that made the rest of downtown pretty accessible. Dining choices in the hotel were limited. Only one small cafe open for a.m. breakfast and one restraunt open for dinner. The cafe seating was chaotic when the place was busy as most tables were for two making it hard to seat families. BTW, try the Seatlle Granola w/ fresh berries - very good. If the staff was more than luke warm, the rooms were a little more modern and the restraunt choices were better, I'd rate the Westin higher. As it is, it's just OK.

    Stay was ok

Room was a bit tired. View was good (high floor, water view). We had an exceptionally hot day which didn't work facing the water (underpowered aircon and too bright to have the drapes open)but I would imagine this is an unusual problem in Seattle There was a mini bar in room but no glasses or cork screw, had to call (and tip) for everything. Had a theif scare (turned out to be a misplaced item on our part), the hotel handled the situation very well. Bottom line, would probably stay at the Edgewater next time.

    Not quite that extravagant...

This hotel is an average hotel for the price paid and location. I figured that it was going to be an outstanding stay because it was ranked so high from other post. My main issue was that you are charged an arm and a leg for almost anything additional at this hotel. Parking was $40 per night at the hotel. The mini bar is a great item to have except for the fact they charged $5 for a can of Coke. Internet is $15 a day, etc. Bottom line is you can find a better hotel outside the city and drive downtown to see the sights.

Best shopping in the area is the South Center Mall. It is a short drive from downtown.

Best restaurant during my stay was Matt's place at Pikes place. Freshest salmon (market price was $50) I've had and they also had the freshest beer on tap.

    A Week as Westin Seattle

This is a very nice hotel and I spent a week there with my family at very attractive rates through Orbitz. The location is perfect and the staff was very helpful. On the other hand, there were three areas that were disappointing: The elevators are annoyingly slow during the check-out time period. Probably the bellman locks the door open while retrieving luggage. The breakfast room is chaotic and there is no table service. The fancy room draperies were operated by electric switches. That was fine until they spontaneously opened at about 3AM.
