Just what I needed
I needed a little pampering for my body and soul. The Sorrento did not disappoint. The beautifully appointed room, courteous and accommodating staff, the restaurant with its delicious food which were feasts for the eyes and palate and the gorgeous structure itself were the respite I needed. I also happened to love the rich history of the building itself and appreciated the aesthetic sensibility that has not been tampered with over its long existence. Classics never go out of style. Thank you, Sorrento Hotel.

Acceptable 4 star hotel
The rooms at the hotel are nice enough, however I had a couple of minor issues. First, the A/C at full blast did not really cool my room off much. This wasn't much of an issue as it wasn't very warm during my stay but in the summer months I think this could be an issue. In addition, there is only one older elevator for the entire building which can be a little inconvenient when waiting. Overall the lobby and other common areas are somewhat dated but not bad. The rooms are 4 star but the rest of the hotel is not quite what I would consider 4 stars.

DO NOT STAY HERE!!!!!!
First off...the hotel was nothing that it was portrayed to be in the advertisement! Valet parking was horrible and overpriced only because u are in the downtown area...and the valet just takes your car and parks it on the street anyway!!! Second off...when you walk in the hotel it has this creepy vibe like you're in a haunted hotel...even the room was creepy and had a foul odor...None of the furniture matched in the room either, it had black carpet with a cherry wood desk and a black chest drawer...the fold out sofa looked like they picked it up from a hippy's garage sale...it was all beat up. We didn't even stay there for 1 hour!!! I called [...]and had them cancel the reservation...we ended up being charged for that night even though we stayed there for like 30 minutes...but I would rather lose money for 1 night then stay there miserably for 4 nights...we ended up going to a LaQuinta and that was 10 times better than this place!!!

Lived up to what was promised
We appreciate quality hotels with a historic past. The Sorrento has been very well renovated, and has a very attentive (but properly discreet) staff. The air conditioning could have been better, but there were lots of little touches that most modern hotels don't provide. Some may consider it a bit expensive, but we would definitely consider staying there again.

Gorgeous Hotel
The hotel was gorgeous. As a designer, I appreciated the detail in the architecture and the high quality of its finishes. The rooms were just as impressive - with luxury linens, marble tile in the bath, and high end fabrics on the furniture. The dining was spectacular as well. Overall - I loved my stay. The only negative comment I have is: On my departure the front desk and concierge were less than helpful! I was disappointed in their level of interest in doing their job - even though I was leaving. I would not let that stop be from returning - the food and room more than made up for their rude behavior.

Long walk from hotel
The walk downtown is awesome(!) But requires a good pair of walking shoes and a decent pair of legs because it quite a steep decent and a steep return. We opted to leave our car behind in our spare time because the area is so interesting and we got lucky with perfect warm sunny weather.

Nice and comfortable
No fuss, no problem. Went with my 70lb dog and younger sister. When we got to the room, we called hospitality for a dog water bowl and it came promptly. We had the Do Not Disturb sign up for the first day and housekeeping called near the end of the day to make sure we had enough shampoo, etc. Quick and easy checkout, very comfortable bed.
