Ok, but not a favorite.

Hotel lobby is currently under construction, so it's a bit noisy and crowded at the entrance. The room itself was nice, the bed comfy. Location was good, easy to get to most anything you'd want to visit. Note to those with sensitive skin: I ended up being terribly allergic to either the soaps they provide or to the detergents used on the bedding. Overall, it was ok. Kinda pricey...you can probably find a better value elsewhere.

You really don't need a car for most of the tourist attractions. Parking is expensive, but the public transportation makes it easy. Many things are within walking distance of the hotel.

Dark construction Bright attitudes

The Red Lion was under construction while I was visiting, but the friendliness of the staff and features offered by the the hotel outweighed the inconvenience of the construction. Positives: Friendly staff, Great amenities Negatives: Construction, Dark paint in rooms was slightly less inviting

Convenient, clean, downtown location!

Room Quality: Room was very clean, friendly staff, had a double queen with a refrigerator, temperature of the bedroom was always perfect, bathroom had pretty great shampoo/conditioner/lotion. We also had a huge window with lots of sunlight and beautiful downtown view. Elevator was also very close to our room (room 907). Location: About 3-4 blocks from downtown shopping for the ladies - Forecer21, H & M, Nike Town, etc. it was also a few blocks from the Pike place market!

Location, location, location!

Room was a little on the small side but worked fine & was comfortable. Hotel was a perfect hub for downtown Seattle activities. One block from Westlake, five blocks to Pike Place Market. I can't really say more.

Backed=up tub

We had stayed in this hotel before and quite liked it. This time it was more expensive and there wasn't a package deal that was very good. But we signed on anyway. Hotel lobby is under renovation so it's hard to find the tiny front desk. When we got to the room I found that the tub had been flooded with sewage or backed up drain water leaving a smelly, black residue in the tub. I called housekeeping and they came to fix the clog (I guess) and clean the tub, but the experience wasn't a pleasant way to start a stay. I would have thought they might adjust the room rate on that account, but no such offer. I'll think twice next time. It is a nice hotel - dining room is great - but I always look for value for the money. Maybe not so much here.

Horrible stay

As I arrived to check in 3pm (check in time) to the hotel the tenant stated that there were no rooms available and that they needed to clean a room and would call us when the room was ready. The tenant called about 45minutes later. TV was very staticky and the room was extremely cold. The lobby was getting renovated which smelled like paint. Construction workers everywhere and a horrible sickening smell. Also room service began knocking at the door at 8am and would continue to knock until check out. For the price of this hotel this is unacceptable. I would not recommend this hotel.

Great location and a wonderful hotel

Had an excellent stay at the Red Lion on 5th - location was ideal, walking distance to the Pike Place Market, the Monorail station (where it's a short ride to the Space Needle, the EMP Museum, and Chihuly Garden and Glass), and also the train to/from SeaTac. So many great restaurants very close by and the Seattle Art Museum (maybe 5 blocks away) was gorgeous. Room wasn't huge but was spacious, had all the amenities including fridge and safe. Extra pillows and robe were a nice touch. Service was also excellent - room was kept clean and front desk was helpful and friendly.

Money-saving tip: Short walk from hotel

The train from SeaTac is only a few blocks walk away and costs $2.75 - taking the train will save plenty in cab fare ! The city is very walkable but mass transit is also a great idea. Rather than renting a car - check googlemaps and use mass transit.
