Boutique comfort and amenities in the heart of the Emerald City
The Paramount Hotel, a member of the Coast Hotel chain, is located in the center of downtown Seattle. The boutique hotel, which has 146 rooms, is walking distance from Pike Place Market, Space Needle and the Seattle Art Museum, and only a block from the Washington Convention and Trade Center. Shoppers can stroll to either Westlake Center or Pacific Place malls. All rooms are smoke-free, and all include amenities such as separate work areas and flat-screen TVs with Nintendo. Guests also enjoy Seattle Pan-Asian cuisine at the in-house restaurant.Highlights

- Walking distance to shopping and tourist attractions

Rooms
Rich, soothing tones of red and brown decorate guest rooms and suites, all of which are smoke-free. All rooms include 37-inch flat-screen televisions with Nintendo, coffee-makers, robes, a separate work area, and a clock radio with MP3 capabilities. Bathrooms feature private-label toiletries. Grand suites, on the top floor, offer fireplaces, soaking tubs, a separate conference room, and, upon request, a connecting room with two queen beds.
Features
The Paramount Hotel Seattle's lobby features a gas fireplace, a welcome touch for visitors returning from a long day of sightseeing or shopping. The crackling fire is homey on rainy, misty Seattle days. The multilingual staff offers the personal touches of a smaller hotel along with the services of a larger property. Irritated by the lack of attention to detail
I thought I was getting a really great deal on a really nice hotel in downtown Seattle. When I arrived, my room key did not work in the lock and proceeded to demagnetize three different keys total during my trip. The staff recommended I keep it away from my cell phone, but the key was always in my wallet, in a purse on my left and the cell phone in the opposite pocket in my jacket. It was really annoying to have to keep going back to the front desk and get the same old story about the cell phones. No one went up to look at the lock, they just kept swapping out my key or made any sort of appeasement action, like hey have a dessert on us or something. The bed was comfortable, but really obnoxiously squeaky - it woke me up several times during the night. The cleaning staff took a long time to clean all the rooms on the floor, so I would try to go out when they started to clean around 9:30 or 10, and come back around 3:30 to a still uncleaned room, which seemed unusual for a relatively small hotel.

Short walk from hotel
Don't get breakfast at the hotel cafe. It's way overpriced for very salty food. There are 5 Starbucks within walking distance with much more prompt and attentive service.

Nice, small hotel
Nice, small hotel. Rooms were clean. Staff members were decent, professional.. but don't bother asking for restaurant recommendations--the guy working behind the desk provided only chain restaurant recommendations! I did not get a chance to check out the pool or fitness center so no comment on that. Overall, the hotel had very limited amenities.. the only food was the Dragonfish Cafe located adjacent to the hotel lobby..didn't eat there, didn't want to eat there.. The "Business Center" is composed of 2 PCs located in a TINY nook next to the lobby...it's pretty sad. These computers are free of charge for hotel guests. Otherwise, you could always pay $10 bucks a day for wireless in your room (rip-off). Valet parking costs $27 + taxes which is a bit pricey, but I think pretty standard these days. Also, the room's heater was really noisy and the air that it was blowing out felt a bit cool rather than warm.. very strange. The room temp would eventually reach what you set it to, but be prepared for the noise! Beds were comfortable, pillows were not so much. The hotel is located right by Pacific Place and also within walking distance of at least 2 Starbucks that serve hot breakfasts, so that was nice. Nice place to stay, quiet hotel, unfortunately our room on the 5th floor had absolutely no view... But overall I would say not bad just don't expect too much!

Odd Orbitz Experience
When we arrived at the hotel, Orbitz confirmation in hand, the hotel informed us that Orbitz "couldn't have" reserved the room that they did for us, nor did they charge us enough. A call from the hotel manager to the number provided by Orbitz confirmed that we did, in fact, reserve that room at that price (2 queens, 4 people, June 13-14). The hotel manager got off the phone and informed us that, since Orbitz didn't charge us the additional amount for more than 2 people in the room (even though our Orbitz bill clearly showed that it was for 4 people), the hotel was going to charge us MORE. We said we thought that was a problem between the hotel and Orbitz, but the hotel manager said that we were to blame for contracting with Orbitz and not through the hotel directly. Only after a half hour did the hotel agree not to charge us, but the manager said he'd have to talk to his manager and that the hotel still may try to come after us for additional charges. He said that we'd hired Orbitz as our representative, so we'd have to take up additional charges with them for their mistake. He didn't acknowledge that the hotel also contracts with Orbitz by allowing them to sell rooms on the hotel's behalf and that the hotel should honor the price sold online and not try to get additional $ out of the guest. In the end, we paid only the price we'd paid to Orbitz, but we were left not knowing whether this is over or not, and we don't know whether it's the hotel's issue or an Orbitz issue. A bad taste during an otherwise fun weekend at a nice hotel. Ugh.

Ho hum hotel
Rough first night, shuttle was not available for time of flight. Desk clerk seemed not to care about our travel issues. Overpriced parking lot. It seems as though we were given a small room on the noisy street side. No amenities - mini frig 2 bottles of water. Noisy air condtioner. Recommended by agent on Orbitz -lots of people reserving - come to find out NY Yankees staying at Hilton across the street. Beds were comfortable, but hotel was not very impressionable - no perks to make you want to come back again. Needs updating - lighting not good.

Sea Alaska
We visited many attractions in Seattle (e.g. Space Needle, Pike Market, Chinatown, Underground Tunnel, ect.). It was a stop over because we are taking a cruise to Alaska. The staff was not that friendly, we ask them one question, they answered with yes or no. We feels like we were not welcome. The hotel was nice, we got the corner room with plenty of space, very new and modern.

But parking.....
My experience to Seattle was amazing! I loved the city. Most I would recommend a trip to the market and to San Juan Island to watch the whales! People too are so polite and friendly and the beauty of Washington is profoundly breath taken. My hotel was beautiful but the parking policy stunk. $30.00 per day regardless of what time you got there is not a good business practice but I suppose that the bad parking deal could not deter my spouse and I for having a good time and memories for life! While is San Juan Islands I found Captain Curtis ship "soul mate" the best way to see whales: small and personalized tour!

The Paramount Hotel, Seattle
Hotel bell man, who works the day shift was very pleasant but the front desk staff were not. Business Center is tiny & uncomfortable with just 2 computers & only standing stations. Coffee maker inside room did not work properly, water wouldn't drip down to the pot unless you hold & press the pot top against the bottom of the filter tray. Compliment coffee in the lobby is not warm enough and tastes weak/plain. With the price I paid around 180/night included tax & surcharge fee, this should be better.
