Not living up to the Kimpton name
Our first time to this hotel and the visit left something to be desired. Coming from San Francisco, we know the Kimpton name and brand mean something, but this place is a work in progress. When we asked the desk clerk for a recommendation for lunch, we drew a blank stare. I clarified the criteria by stating we wanted something that would show off local/regional ingredients, not touristy and not a chain; he still seemed at a loss. But what took the cake, and will probably preclude our ever staying there again was the last day of our visit. The day before, we requested a late check out (2:00 p.m.) since we had time to rest before our flight; it didn't appear to be a problem with the front desk. However, we were disturbed/woken up not one, not two, not three, but FOUR times by different housekeeping staff wanting to clean the room. Come on - really? When we advised the front desk clerk he responded that it shouldn't have happened since they had a list of late check outs. Well, did anyone circulate, read and/or understand the list? He said he would "talk to someone" about it; somehow, I did not find that promise to be credible and at that point it was no consolation to us. We might give a Kimpton sister property our business in the future, but the Monaco has seen the last of us.

great hotel- location, service excellent
In my grand daughters words- the hotel felt like home away from home. Assistance was available for anything we might need including directions and suggestions for fun things to do. I would definitely stay here again.

Monaco Seattle
Lovely hotel, great interior decorating. Room service breakfast not as listed on menu- no fresh fruit, raisins and brown sugar already on oatmeal, not even a drop of milk for the oatmeal, and not even a glass of water delivered with the breakfast. Kind of disappointing for a high-end hotel.

Great Location, Great Service, Fun Hotel
My sister and I went to Seattle to celebrate my birthday and have an urban-girls-getaway-weekend. We chose the Hotel Monaco because of its location, other reviews, and photos of the hotel. You can't beat this location! Right in the heart of downtown Seattle, and walking distance to just about everything. We relied on public transportation (or our own feet) during our stay. From Sea-Tac we hopped on the light rail and had just a 2 block walk to the hotel. The hotel staff were super friendly and accommodating. When they found out it was my birthday they sent a bottle of champagne and some chocolates to our room. Complimentary morning coffee and evening happy hour were a nice bonus. The lively decor and goldfish room companion help make this a fun and unique hotel.

Short walk from hotel
Buy some fresh baked bread from any downtown bakery, get a crab cocktail to go from a Pike Place fish monger, sit in the park and eat! Can't beat that meal!!

Holidays in Seattle
We had a wonderful stay at the Hotel Monaco . The rooms were clean and charming and the staff friendly and hospitable. The hotel is centrally located and close to many Seattle attractions. Dining options are abundant in downtown Seattle, especially for seafood. We were pleasantly surprised to find an excellent restaurant right next door to the Monaco called Sazerac. It had great atmosphere, good service and tasty morels.

Short walk from hotel
The hotel is a short walk to a number of Seattle attractions... Benaroya Hall and the Library are a block away... the SAM, Pike Place and Pacific Place are just a few blocks away, and the wharf and ferries are a short walk... the light rail is close by and gives easy access to/from the airport.

Hotel restaurant left a bad taste.
The hotel was centrally located, cutting a gazillion steps from our usual trekking all over downtown. It was also clean. It was nice, but not quite a sparkly as the photos represented, but still okay. However, the hotel restaurant, Sazerac, was rather unpleasant. The dinner menu seemed very one dimensional and too expensive. When we tried to leave without ordering dessert, our waiter told us that he couldn't get us our check because the computer was down and wouldn't we like to order dessert while we waited. We declined. Within minutes he returned and asked if we would at least like to have coffee. No. He then presented us with our check. We paid indicating $0 tip on the credit card as we left 18% in cash (though that was a stretch since dinner wasn't that great and neither was the service). When we got home, we noticed that the restaurant had added a 25% gratuity to the credit card charge. We called the restaurant and they took the tip off, but we were told that adding 25% was customary. (Even when leaving a cash tip???) It was very much a used car lot experience.

Great Weekend
Dog friendly, but tough on dogs without a park nearby. Coffee only in the morning, in Seattle? Parking was nearly $40 a night. That said, the beds were great, the room was clean and big enough for 3 of us. Could have used a nightlight in the bath, lighted mirror was great.

The market has everything. If you love food, this town has it all. And, pretty friendly folks. Rain or not.
