marqueen-inn at marqueen

well me got moved from marqueen hotel to inn at marqueen hotel, they told us we could have two queens at the inn at marqueen instead of one kind, but we got moved into the dump, with one single bed and one queen. It was horrible, they should have at least told us it really didnt have two queens. I would have rather had one king in a nice hotel not a dirty small hotel.

"Hotel Disappointment"

Hotel was selected because it included a kitchenette, which was OK. The rooms were badly "updated". Bathtub interior was peeling, plumbing was trouble- some and everything looked dirty and rundown. Location was close to good eats but the noise from bottle "recyclers", the street, and the restaurant bar across the street kept us awake every night. Some of the towels had holes in them and some of them had ragged edges!

Needs a little updating.

Building is very old. Bathtub dripped all night. No handrails in the shower. Flooring in the kitchen was sticky. I had to asked to have the sheets changed because they were so old they had holes in them.

Things have changed

In the past, the kitchens had some cooking utensils and an assortment of snack items to be purchased. Also, the breakfast venue has changed. Now, the hotel has a minimal continental breakfast.

5 nights at the MarQueen

Neighborhood and location are excellent. Drugstore, grocery, and many restaurants within a block or two. Easy walk to downtown etc. and public transportation readily available. Continental breakfast very limited but nice. Our room had a kitchenette with table and chairs and seating area off of sleeping area. Very roomy. Pretty wood floors with area rugs which need a good cleaning. Bathroom generally clean but very dirty vent on ceiling. Even though the room was cute my overall feeling was it all needed a good scrubbing. There is no elevator available, hotel only 3 stories but can be difficult if carrying own baggage etc. Lobby very charming and staff helpful. Room and hallway very quiet. Free WiFi.

Old Hotel

The hotel wasn't bad. The bathtub was retrofitted with a shower and the water coming out squealed really loud. The building was really old and had a bit of a smell and the floors creaked a lot. I stayed here on my honeymoon, so you could see how this could be a problem.

A fine old Painted Lady Sept. 2009

We have stayed in this area many times, but this was our first time at the Marqueen. We liked it very much because it is a warm funky old hotel with charm and character. The rooms and walk in closet are huge, and there is a breakfast nook at the end of the kitchen. The staff is very friendly and they have a reasonable free breakfast.

Dining tip: Short walk from hotel

There are a zillion inexpensive restaurants within two blocks. There are four so-so Asian places, two Indian, one Mexican, an Irish pub, a great pizza joint, a Greek place with better food than you get in Greece, two grungy hamburger joints, and three very good coffee shops. If you want a top steak drive a mile to Daniel's, and for fish go two miles to Anthony's or any other of the dozen fish places in the area.

Not the best rate available!

We stayed at the Marqueen because it was close to our home which was having some plumbing work done. The room given to us [...] was on street level. The windows had no screens, so it was a little uncomfortable to have them open for air. People partying, smoking, yelling, fighting until all hours. There were rooms available on the 2nd and 3rd floors-but not for us. [...]The hotel itself was clean, quaint and I'm sure quieter on other floors. Staff was friendly.

Close to the sights

We chose this location because of its proximity to good restaurants and Seattle Center. The front desk staff was very friendly and check-in/check-out were easy and fast. One note to remember: it is an OLD building, so the hardwood floors were very noisy, paint and trim were in need of repair, etc. The room's kitchen area could have been cleaner. We spent most of our stay out seeing the city, and were only in the room long enough to enjoy the comfortable king bed.
