Seattle for the first time

This place was awesome. The only downfall was that I couldn't check in early. I had to take my daughter to Seattle Children's Hospital for an appointment. We're from out of town and flew all night. I has asked in advance if it were possible for an early check-in the person I spoke to told me yes. When I got there they told me no. We had almost a 12 hr. wait. I understood but was upset because I was told yes then told no, my daughter has a rare lung disease and was exhausted. They did try to be accommodating by telling me to call in a couple of hours. We still couldn't get in until much later. However, the staff were friendly and helpful with our needs and the needs of my daughter once we got checked-in. The location is awesome. We were able to walk and explore the Seattle Center and lots of places to eat. The beds were comfy and the atmosphere was comfortable. Once you were in your room you couldn't hear a peep from the outside. Besides that miscommunication our experience was fantastic and the staff are amazing. Thank you

My stay

I have been here many times but this time is different. The bathroom sink is deeply cracked, a big chunk of plaster separating from the wall and faucets very hard to operate. When I arrived I found one sock in a chair and a very large tube of lubricant in the bedside drawer. I appreciate the breakfast and very large room. Not up to the usual standards. You can be so much better, MarQueen

Great neighborhood, unique character

I stayed at the MarQueen for just shy of a week and have only positives to say about my visit. This is a great hotel to call base while exploring Seattle. Located in the Queen Anne neighborhood, the Marqueen is located a short walk from most major tourist attracions (ie Space needle, Science Center, my surprise fav was the EMP museum), many quality restaurants and bars, and all for a reasonable price. Yes, the building is old (for Seattle), but where I'm from there are houses over 350 years old. Character is an added bonus in my opinion. If I had to pick an area to improve, it'd be to upgrade to flatscreen TVs. Great vacation, thanks Marqueen crew!

Sightseeing tip: Short walk from hotel

The surprise favorite attraction was the EMP musem. I could have spent all day in utter saturation of all types of meda. I saw the swords from the Princess Bride, life size ALIEN, Jimi Hendricks/ nirvana / beatles exhibits, live studio to play multiple instruments, and so much more. By itself worth the CityPass. Also, September is beautiful in Seattle.

Cool hotel

Great staff and vibe. Lots of character and close to many great restaurants. Definitely a unique exper ience. If you travel a lot, you will appreciate the difference from large chain hotels. Only downside was the wireless was quite spotty. However, lots of fab coffee spots a two minute walk from the hotel.

Great location, nice staff

The rooms were beautiful and spacious. For the price, having a kitchenette and a sitting room was fantastic. We were on the second floor by the stairs and it never got noisy. Staff was very polite. But nobody in Seattle seems to know how to buy a bus pass. I asked the concierge. He sent me to the drugstore. That employee sent me to the Safeway. The Safeway cashier said "come back tomorrow during the day and we might be able to sell you a pass." They couldn't. Desk clerk also got me a "towncar" to the airport. It was a taxi that charged $10 more than the company's rate (I called United to verify), then a $3 fee to use a credit card. Maid service didn't give us coffee on day one. Gave us two packets on day two after we wrote a reminder. Bed was always made early. Bathrooms were cleaned but not thoroughly. Wifi was weak. No wired connections in the rooms. Connection was strong in the lounge. So were the drinks and the coffee so that's a good planning spot. It is a beautiful old hotel -- staffed by polite, flaky people.

Pleasant Seattle Trip

The staff at Marqueen were friendly and very helpful. Everything was very clean and well maintained. We stayed in a King room with a kitchen and the room was huge with a walk in closet and the kitchen amenities were great! Our dishes were even done! The complimentary breakfast wasn't great but there's a wonderful, yet expensive, market down the road perfect for stocking the in room kitchen.

hotel meh, staff excellent

I want to make two things clear: The staff is extremely friendly, very courteous, and works hard for the guests. I really don't want this review to seem negative; the staff is the big plus. The building is a bit old and tired; I've stayed there twice and had the same feeling both times. Rooms are big, but feel like they could use a refresh. If you plan to work, be aware that the WIFI varies from sporadic to non-existent.

Nice Old Charm

This hotel definitely feel like a walk into the past. You can definitely smell the old wood and see all the charming detals. The decor is in keeping with the time period (old Victorian). The only complaint would be the air conditioning - which was VERY loud when it was starting up or stopping (like wake you up in the middle of your sleep LOUD). Other than that we enjoyed the kitchenette and sitting area and it was VERY well-located if you wanted to see Seattle on foot.

The Duck tour - corny but fun. If you do it in the evening (last tour) you get a nice sunset cruise.
