Not surprisingly, each room at the Hotel Max sports an arty title. Solo art has a double bed and teak desk. Art of two beds rooms boast two double beds. Queen of art rooms sport a queen bed and artist king has king-size beds. Soothing tones of sage, charcoal gray and vegetal oranges decorate each room. All rooms have high thread-count linens and duvets, robes, coffee makers with Organa coffee and Steven Smith tea, Aveda bath amenities, a menu of pillow choices and a menu of spiritual inspiration suitable for almost any belief system.

Features

An art-filled lobby, guest rooms and hallways underscore the Hotel Max's dedication to art and Seattle-area artists and photographers. If the point is to create a serene environment, the Hotel Max follows up admirably with rooms done in calming hues. In-room tea accompanies in-room coffee and a spiritual menu promises inspiration for almost any faith or belief system. A whimsical "you got it" button on the telephone links guests with hotel services.

A little slice of heaven

Even though the room was small, the incredibly comfortable bed more than made up for it. Visually the hotel is impressive . . . I love the art, the colors, the texture. All of the Hotel Max employees were so welcoming and helpful. We will definitely stay here again.

Hotel review for Seattle 5/23/09

When we came back from the cruise ship, this time they had welcome gift ready in our room, plus the room was little bigger than the week before our cruise trip, because last time when we check in they didn't have our booking, that's why we only got the lower level and a very small room compare with this time, and didn't have prepared the welcome gift in the room as well

Sightseeing tip: Short walk from hotel

Do not take taxi going to and from the pier and this hotel, those drivers had a bad attitude because it was short drive and the taxi fare should be less than $7.00 but they charged $15.00

Maximum Value

Booked the hotel in a central location at a good price. My husband and I get seperate rooms so we can have our own bathrooms which was actually a really good idea at this hotel because my room didn't have a full bathroom--the sink was in the main room. The shower will be a little tight for you if you are a really large person. The room is stocked with great goodies and nice Aveda soaps and shampoo. The beds and pillows are extremely comfortable. The entire hotel is really cool and fun with great graphics on all of the room doors and art in each room and in the loby. The loby furniture could be spruced up or replaced due to wear. The staff are very helpful with tips about visiting the city. We had appetizers and drinks at the adjoining bar/restaurant which were very tasty. Parking is done by the staff so you dont have to worry about it, but that could be pesky as well. I went to the Marriott by the pier for a conference after my stay here. Marriott was twice the price and not as comfortable. The Marriott did have a pool. But, if you don't use it, who cares?

Enjoyable Hotel

I really enjoyed my stay here. It's quick walk to Pike's Market and to downtown, and there's a monorail stop nearby so you can get to the Space Needle pretty quickly. The hotel has excellent decor and the staff is very friendly.

1st trip to Seattle

My mother and I spent a week in Seattle as tourists. Having never been to Seattle before, we were unsure of what to expect. The Hotel Max was great. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. The location is great. We were able to walk to most of all of our destinations. The ones we weren't able to walk to, other forms of transportation were easily accessable. The Hotel Max has great beds and the toiletry items were 1st class. Only thing missing was a continental breakfast. They do have a very nice restaraunt. A discount would have been nice.

Sightseeing tip: Short walk from hotel

The trolley is a very short walk from the Hotel. Use it to get to Lake Union and take the Lakes tour. It was wonderful! Also, bring your passport. Would have LOVED to have gone on a whale watching tour. They are not easily accessed from Seattle without a car as the ports of departure are located north of Seattle . The only one's we could have gone on without renting a car required a passport as they stopped in Canada.

Urban oasis in an art filled setting

Great setting. Fun, funky art vibe to the place. Very convenient location. Except for my wife's presentation, we literally could walk everywhere else. Friendly, knowledgeable and helpful staff. Bonus: The attached restaurant had some of the best sushi we've ever had.

Dining tip: Short walk from hotel

Many of the bars & restaurants in Seattle offer happy hours every evening from about 4:00 - 7:00, then again from 10:00 -12:00. It's a great way to splurge on several different cuisines without getting too full or breaking your budget. Most of them within walking distance to the hotel.

not the best, but not the worst

I would like to say first off that the staff at this hotel was by far the nicest, most accommodating staff of any hotel where I have stayed for quite a while. Unfortunately, there were some significant negatives that would cause me not to recommend this hotel overall. I stayed in a room with one queen bed - as a single traveler the room was small but not too small, but had I been traveling with another person it would have been too small. I had a friend meet me at the hotel one afternoon before we went out and just the 20 minutes we were in the room neither one of us knew where to go to get out of the other person's way. The bathroom, particularly the shower, was entirely too small. I cannot imagine that anyone over my height (5'4") would have even been able to use the shower without smashing their elbows into the wall and bumping into the water control with every slight move. I also felt that this hotel "nickle and dimed" for the 'extras' - I happened to get a great sale rate that included free wireless for the week - but had I not gotten that rate, wireless Internet was priced at over $11 per day. Likewise, my rate included parking, which was about $20 a day for guests who did not get a rate that included parking. There were no simple or inexpensive room service items available - the one night I did order room service the menu had limited choices (limited even within the category of "Asian fusion" which, except for breakfast, was the only type of food available) and was very overpriced. Finally, I had read some reviews prior to booking that said the hotel was loud. When I saw the great promotional rate offer, I decided to take a chance. The first 4 nights of my stay were weeknights and I did occasionally hear someone sneeze or drop something but it wasn't anything more than other hotels. When the weekend came, so did many many more guests... the last night of my stay, the women in the room next to mine decided to stay awake talking until 3AM - every now and again they were screaming but for the most part, they were using normal speaking voices. I did not get any sleep before 3AM and heard every detail of their conversation. This is upsetting for both comfort (not having to hear other people) and privacy reasons. I really did appreciate the kindness and assistance and consistently superior positive attitude of the staff, but this simply does not outweigh the negatives, no matter how much I really wanted it to. The location was actually really great (centrally located to allow visiting all sites on foot) but there were several other hotels all within 2 blocks in all directions so the location really doesn't give this hotel much of an advantage. I definitely would not stay here for the full rate or for any rate that does not, at least, include free wireless and/or free parking if that is something you require. Also don't count on room service unless you like very spicy Asian food (again, with the exception of breakfast) There is a small business center on the first floor with 2 computers connected to the Internet and printer that could be used instead of wireless for short Internet access needs. There was no free parking in the city so if you will have a car, free parking at your hotel will be a huge savings. Don't make the mistake of assuming the noise won't matter - I can typically sleep through anything which is why I ignored the warnings. Had my first night been like my last, I would have desperately wanted to change hotels. If you do take a chance, I would recommend making sure your rate is refundable just in case you get noisy neighbors and its too much to take.
