The Hotel Max combines art and stylish boutique comfort, all within walking distance of Seattle's most famous attractions. Almost 400 works by 39 Seattle artists and photographers decorate rooms and public spaces. The Hotel Max takes advantage of its art niche to occasionally offer packages and deals tied to exhibits at the nearby Seattle Art Museum. The Hotel Max's restaurant, Redfin, focuses on Japanese specialties and serves breakfast, lunch, brunch and dinner.
Rooms

Not surprisingly, each room at the Hotel Max sports an arty title. Solo art has a double bed and teak desk. Art of two beds rooms boast two double beds. Queen of art rooms sport a queen bed and artist king has king-size beds. Soothing tones of sage, charcoal gray and vegetal oranges decorate each room. All rooms have high thread-count linens and duvets, robes, coffee makers with Organa coffee and Steven Smith tea, Aveda bath amenities, a menu of pillow choices and a menu of spiritual inspiration suitable for almost any belief system.

Property features

An art-filled lobby, guest rooms and hallways underscore the Hotel Max's dedication to art and Seattle-area artists and photographers. If the point is to create a serene environment, the Hotel Max follows up admirably with rooms done in calming hues. In-room tea accompanies in-room coffee and a spiritual menu promises inspiration for almost any faith or belief system. A whimsical "you got it" button on the telephone links guests with hotel services.

Millers Guild has a nine-foot-long, custom-made grill that James Beard Award-winning chef Jason Wilson uses to create a wood-fired menu, that features 75-day dry-aged beef, locally caught seafood, nose-to-tail butchery, and rustic baked goods. Millers Guild channels the city's unique character and yet is unlike any other restaurant in Seattle.

Conference

The hotel was very nice. The staff was excellent. They were very friendly and helpful. This hotel is pretty much in the middle of everything. I took the light rail from the airport to the end of the line which I think was Westlake and it was only a few blocks from the hotel so I didn't have to rent a car while there. The staff gave me recommendations of things to see and arranged a tour to Mt. Rainier for me. The only thing I had a problem with was the WiFi but that could have been my fault. They also have a nice little gym on the 2nd floor. Over all, it was a nice place to stay.

Great location - older building

This is a fun and funky property that is ideally located in the heart of downtown Seattle. Daily happy hour is a great touch. Staff very helpful and truly there to assure you have a great stay Elevators are very small and they still use window units for air conditioning. Other than those minor problems, this is an interesting historical property that really seems to go after the younger travelers.

Great hotel for exploring Seattle!

Within walking distance to many Seattle attractions-Miller's Guild Restaurant served excellent wood-fired dishes. Staff responsive and always friendly/smiling-even at 6 am! Complimentary craft beer tastings each evening were tasty. Loved the music-themed art and design.

I really loved this hotel. I arrived very late and they informed me that they were out of king bed rooms and that I'd be in a room with 2 twins.... I had traveled across country that day and was REALLY needing that king bed! The front desk heard my plea and somehow got me my king bed, so I was a happy camper. The rooms are small, but decorated very retro chic, and kind of quirky. (I loved the record player on the nightstand)

Fun Art work

Joseph greeted us very warmly. We came in early from Calif. and they had a room ready for us. Yes it is true it can be loud with traffic. I am use to noise like that so didn't bother me. We were on the second floor. They have an honor bar which was nice. The room is small for more then 2 people but we found it very nicely decorated and the bed was awesome! We had a safe in the room, a couple of drawers, and a closet to put clothes away. Had separate shower and toilet. If did have a small step up to the toilet and a smaller step into the shower area. This hotel is locally situated. We walked to the Needle and to Pike Market. There is a pharmacy right around the corner as well. Water in room expensive may want to grab a couple prior to going in everyday, that's what we did. Beer happy hour was nice we only made it twice in five days and I thought it was good my husband said it was just okay beer. They have coffee in the morning as well which was nice to sit and have coffee without having to make it in your room, they do have a coffee pot in the room. Take the train from SEA airport . Also the train ends at Westlake which is where the hotel is, just a short 2 to 3 block walk and you are at the hotel. Cab will cost you a lot more. Overall we enjoyed our stay. We did not try their restaurant.

Not a great experience

The hotel is in a great location and very close to monorail station that leads to space needle however, the room was small and does not have central air, just a window unit that is loud and inefficient at night. Its a low rise building so you can easily hear road noise and people outside the hotel. The bathroom too was very small and to get into it you need to step up almost two-feet, very strange - huge problem if youre waking up in the middle a night and not used to stepping up just to go to the bathroom. Staff was polite but I felt were not really helpful, we slept in on day until noon and missed the scheduled house-keeping. I had to ask three times to have them send someone to clean and restock the room with fresh towels. Restaurant in lobby area was ok but was very pricey for the menu offering. The restaurant was priced like it would if it were in a 5-star hotel with an average main course price between $28-$50, which would be fine if HotelMax weren't a 3-star.

Eclectic

If you are adventurous and tiresome of the same old standard hotel then Hotel Max is the place for you. Set in a convenient downtown location close to everything a traveler can want. What it lacks in size is more than made up for in spunk and style. From the artwork in the rooms, on the entry doors. Staff is friendly although they were suppose to text us when our room was ready and did not. However is was a very pleasant stay and the beer reception is a nice touch. Would definitely stay here again.
