hotel had a very european flavor to it. Conveniently located for what we needed. the bar downstairs was pretty depressing ... so I wouldn't count on it for an evening's entertainment. but there are plenty of other places in Seattle to have a good time so that's okay with us. We reserved a "studio" room but when we got there they recommended that since there were two of us that the room would be small. so they put us in a larger room at a slight additional cost. We never did see the smaller room to judge for ourselves. Parking was outside and plentiful but there was a small charge for it that we were not aware of at the time. We plan to stay there again.

The bus stop for downtown is right around the corner, on University drive right in front of the Rite Aid. On weekdays you can catch the 71, 72 or 73, and it will run "Express" to downtown, stopping only a few times while still north of the lake. The total ride is barely ten minutes and costs $1.75. A great time/money saver.

Check out the Greek restaurant on 45th street for Breakfast. Omelette with Spinach, Feta Cheese and toast. Could not be better. The evening dishes at the bar downstairs were great value at the hotel.

Fine hotel with GREAT service!
PAZ Oct 26, 2009
I came to the U district to visit the University. The Deca is located right at Brooklyn and 45th, near University Blvd and ... with easy access to many local cafes and stores. There's a Rite Aid literally behind the hotel for all your sundry needs. When I arrived I met [...], the hotel clerk who checked me in and managed my entire stay. The first thing he did was to welcome me to my first visit to the Deca by upgrading my room from a double bed to a king for free. Internet service was also included for free. Maxim was always on hand, answering any questions I had about anything. When I needed a cab, he would get one for me. When I needed directions, he supplied them. If I wanted a recommendation for dining, he provided it. I should not like to exclude the rest of the staff, who were equally on hand whenever necessary. The room was quiet, comfortable and clean. The thermostat worked perfectly (very appreciated) and the bed was very comfortable, although I don't understand hotels' love affair with down pillows. They should ALWAYS offer regular pillows for people with stiff necks. The only real flaw in this hotel experience was the internet. Although advertised as broadband, it was painfully slow. barely 2 k / sec. I had a 56k baud modem in the early 90's that gave me faster access. To his credit, [...] called the management when informed him, and they checked everything. The problem was not solved, but I appreciated his attention. He did offer to move me to a room where I could have direct ethernet connection (which would have given me a faster connection), but it was close the end of my stay so I declined. Another peculiarity was the restaurant strangely located in the basement of the hotel. Literally. You get in the elevator and press the "B" button. The restaurant itself is not bad... the food is decent and there's a nice bar with some good beer on tap. Most evenings they have great live performances by jazz trios or soloists who are local performers. But the place is horrendously dark, at all times, even in the morning. It's rather depressing to wake up to a bright, happy morning and then have breakfast in a dark, dingy place with really slow, depressing music on the house speakers. Not exactly well thought-out decorum, but since there is a wide selection of local dining so close the hotel, this is a minor point.Overall, I'm very satisfied, and I will definitely stay at the Hotel Deca again.

Hotel Decca is located just off I-5 and onto 45th Street near UW campus although that was of no interest. Parking lot is cramped and hard to maneuver but the smaller cars. Rooms great and neat decor---maid service great. Staff at desk helpful and courteous. Internet access and access to a printer were useful and accommodating. We traveled South, downton seattle, ballard, wallingford, fremont, and other areas and was easy to get back to. My GPS worked greatly in finding the sites and getting back to the airport at SeaTac.

Clean, but small, bathroom
Un. Washington Visitor Jun 10, 2009
In town for University graduation. Hotel staff very good. View from corner room window very nice. Bathroom very, very ... small with almost no counter space. Very thin (inexpensive) toilet paper. However, bathroom very clean and caulk around tub in excellent condition. Few electric plug outlets. Had to charge cell phone using bathroom outlet. Closet large, but no light fixture in closet. Chest-of-drawers type of furniture in closet, but did not use due to lack of light fixture. Lots of large decorative pillows on beds, but they had to be moved to use the beds. We put the pillows on the chair, but I assume others would simply throw them on the floor so that they could use the chair. Nice coffee shop near check-in counter.

Great Location for University District
PermanentTraveler Jun 2, 2009
We had a business trip to Seattle and stayed at Hotel Deca. It was a nice hotel that has been redecorated to have a more ... modern/contemporary feel. The service was just fine, there was ample sitting room in the lobby area, a coffee shop attached to it, and just steps away from shops, restaurants and University of Washington Seattle. No complaints! The price was great and it was exactly what we needed.
