We loved the central location and, because we were in Seattle to see "Wicked", having the Paramount only a block away was ... wonderful. Pike Market, Old Town Underground tour, and lots of great places to eat were just a few of the highlights.

I enjoyed my first trip to Seattle largely due to the central location of this hotel. The staff were kind, helpful and ... relaxed. The hotel itself has plenty to do and is only about 8 blocks from Pike Market, the heart of the city. In the lobby you'll have a Ruth's Chris steakhouse (which also serves breakfast, actually) and a Starbucks, but not a lobby shop so far as I could tell. The rooms are comfortable and clean, and there is no security issue in the area as far as I can tell. I would happily stay here again - the hotel helped make my stay comfortable and never once got in the way of anything I really needed to enjoy myself.

Walk westward (i.e. can also go northwest or southwest) toward more restaurants and breweries than you'll need. Eastward you won't find much on foot.

Drewster Sep 14, 2009
Very impressed with the location of the hotel. In the heart of the business district, walking distance to the Convention ... Center (1 block). The room (24th floor) had great views and was tastefully decorated. The bath was more spa-like than most hotels. The room service was responsive and the food excellent. The front staff were courteous and efficient. The valet and bell-staff were professional and attentive. I would stay there again without question. Very impressed with every aspect of this hotel and it's staff.

Enjoyed a wonderful getaway from the daily grind and the Grand Hyatt made it nice. In this day and age, having to pay for ... daily internet service was the only issue I had with this trip. I have stayed at less stellar places that provided free internet.

the location was good enough. But grand hyatt looks like the last boundary for the busy downtown. I liked their room and ... bathroom. But the only I was disappointed with is that they don't have swimming pool at all. Also I expected there will be free wireless service because it's in Seattle. But they don't have such things.

The room, in particular the bathroom was beautiful but we had to get shampoo, etc from the maid in the hallway. It would have ... been nice to have a bagel or donuts in the morning. Instead they wanted you to eat at Ruth Chris's Steakhouse which is very expensive.

Not so grand
Boplanman Jul 5, 2009
Two negative things. If you expect a very pricey hotel to include in room internet access you'd be disappointed. This greedy ... company wants to nickle and dime you for every extra penny. Just get you internet access at star bucks, there is 30 of them within 2 miles and it is far cheaper. I'll make sure to never book lodging without finding out how much they want to shaft you for what in todays world should be a standard. Heck even motel 6 includes Internet access. There are better options in down town Seattle. I'd stay just outside down town if I go again as the vast number of homeless people milling around the hotel is disturbing to say the least. The positive Everything you could want to see in Seattle is within walking distance. Their bedding is awesome. We bought a couple grand worth of it from the website before checking out.

Grand Hyatt, Seattle WA
Barb in Charlotte Jul 5, 2009
The location of the Grand Hyatt is great! Very convenient to the Convention Center and shopping areas. Bus stops very close ... and a nice walk down to Pike Place Market and Monorail is only a couple of blocks away. Only complaints: No shop on premises for sundries, camera batteries, etc. Only reataurant on premises is Ruth Chris Steakhouse and while their breakfast was great, it is very expensive.

Grand Hyatt has a great location.
Pudlelover Jun 29, 2009
The Grand Hyatt is ideally situated in downtown Seattle and within walking distance to Pike Street and many other locations ... such as the art museum and sporting venues. Your description for the Grand Hyatt seems to be referring to the new Hyatt called Olive/8 which is a block away. Great spa and fitness center but smaller rooms and very modern and sterile looking. The Grand Hyatt also has a Starbucks attached to the hotel.
Traveler type: Family
Try not to rent a car as it is pricey to park one at the Hyatt. There is a bus that runs from the airport downtown and great mass transit that will get you most anywhere! The buses are free in the downtown area. You can also walk to many restaurants and events.

Macy's was our best shopping in Seattle. Look for sales you will find them at Macy's. Ex: $140 purse on sale $34! The last evening in Seattle realized we needed another piece of luggage to get home! The salesman @ Macy's helped us find a sale piece $32 and quickly checked us out before store closed.

Excellent hotel. Attentive staff. Had the corner king suite which was nice but the closet and drawer space was limited and ... somewhat cumbersome to get to. Great fitness area with hot tub, sauna, and steam room. Ruth's Chris steak house, which is the hotel restaurant, actually has a very good breakfast - recommend it. Very convenient to downtown Seattle. Would stay there again.

Taphouse Grill a block away is perfect if you like beer and good food. 160 beers on tap. Had the mahi mahi which was excellent.

Ride the Seattle Metro (bus) for free from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily throughout downtown--walk up to Pike & 3rd Ave or Pine & 3rd Ave to catch the major routes (you can plan your bus route online with King County Transit or just look at the bus routes posted at the bus stops). Von's restaurant/bar is across the street from the Grand Hyatt--we found the food, drink, and staff to be great. Great value is the $9.95 per person breakfast buffet from 7:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. daily.
