A great time!

The staff are very friendly and accommodating. The bellman was the friendliest man I have met, and was so informative to all that he greeted. He went out of his way to make you feel welcome. The room was very clean and the bed was just right. The hotel is located just up from the water, near the freeway, and near shopping and great restaurants.

Old but refurbished, wonderful location

The staff is wonderful and helpful. They offer free wine (no snacks except apples and oranges) every evening for an hour. Quiet. Very old but right in the heart of the downtown hotel district - one block from the Hilton, great pricing, very comfortable bed and pillows. Perfect for those staying downtown before going on a cruise, or for a special occasion. No free breakfast, but the café is accessible from the lobby. The Jasmine restaurant which is advertised has been closed, so you would have to go elsewhere to have lunch or dinner, but there are plenty of nice restaurants in easy walking distance.

Quaint rooms friendly staff

We have stayed her a couple times. Great location. Extremely friendly and helpful staff. They comped my valet parking because they had a hard time finding my reservation. YES the rooms are small and so is the bathroom. If you read up on the history of the building you will understand why. The rooms are nicely appointed, sheets are clean, beds are comfy. If you're a stuffy, uptight, persnickety person, don't stay here. If you're looking for a clean hotel to crash for the night and can deal with tight spaces for a night or two, this is a great place. You cannot beat the location. Centrally located. The doorman-- cool dude!

Good And Affordable No-Frills Hotel Downtown

Our room was somewhat small and had a 2nd floor view of a parking garage, so it wasn't too exciting, but it was clean and very affordable for being right downtown. The location is great, very central to all kinds of restaurants and attractions. Generally I would highly recommend it for a cheap downtown Seattle getaway.

Quite, comfortable rooms, well situated

One working elevator during my stay made the waits a bit long. The lobby and hallways are in need of an upgrade, but the room was clean, quite, comfortable and modern. The included wireless internet made writing and working in the early morning a pleasure. Well situated in relation to other downtown attractions.

Metropolitan Grill, a great traditional steakhouse, is four blocks away and down the hill. A bit pricey, but a great meal for a splurge.

good location

This hotel is in a good location. Just across the street from the library and within walking distance to most everything. Rooms are quite small. Best for a single person or couple use to traveling light. The staff was hellpful and friendly. It is an older hotel, but the bed was comfortable. We would stay there again. We were on the 7th floor so street noise was at a miminum.

Good location for the price.

There is nothing fancy about this hotel but it is in a good location and you can generally get a good rate especially for downtown Seattle. They do need to do some renovation, it is obvious that it is an older hotel but I would recommend it someone looking for a decent place to stay in Seattle.

Cute.

If you like the classic charm of a hotel that's got a little personality and could be used to shoot extra scenes for The Shining or 1408, and you don't mind being a little cramped (the rooms aren't that big... at all), this is a good hotel for you. The downtown location is GREAT! There's a Seattle's Best coffee shop right down in the lobby. I might suggest a vending machine somewhere. Anywhere! Because $3 for a can of Pepsi qualifies for a little more than excessive. PERFECT for the business traveler without the sterile feel of the big hotel chains. I'd stay here again.

Dining tip: Short walk from hotel

This place is right in the middle of downtown. You can walk to Pike's Market and the Aquarium or the Music Experience Museum or if you just want something to read, the Public Library is right across the street. If you stay here you're close to EVERYTHING.

Great Location

A five minute walk to Pike Market or Pioneer square makes this an excellent choice. The rooms were very clean, the bed/pillows comfortable and Seattles Best coffee is in the hotel and Starbucks across the street. Would definetly stay here again.
