Thin walls, but great location

This hotel was a good value for the location. If you're looking for a comfortable hotel to spend a lot of time lounging around this is not the spot because the rooms are a bit worn and small. However, if you want a comfortable spot in a great location for a good price this is it. The walls are thin and it can be loud so request at check-in to be in a room with no neighbors if possible.

The decor in the hallway and lift

The decor in the hallway and lift is a little dated. The rooms have comfortable beds and flatscreen TVs. The staff are extremely helpful and pleasant. Hotel location is excellent - 5 mins walk from Pike Place and the monorail to Seattle Center. There are also buses to the zoo and Alki beach just 1-2 blocks away.

sleepless in seattle

Day prior to trip informed of change to "Inn @ Virginia Mason". Took several phone calls over a 3 hour period to confirm details. After arrival in Seattle phone message lead to a second change to the "Baroness Hotel". This is a TOTALLY INFERIOR hotel. It had no air conditioning forcing us to leave all windows open. Not good since we were on the second floor directly opposite from a busy hospital Emergency room. The curtains were only sheers so we could not darken the room from the flood lights of the hospital. We were exposed to the noise of hospital traffic, including fire engines, ambulances and cars. The no smoking policy was rendered moot by all the hospital patients, employees and visitors smoking immediately under our open windows. Horrible experience.

Small rooms, funky hotel, great location

Great location, but the hotel is a funky, old thing. We thought the elevators were going to drop or strand us inside a few times. The room and bathroom was very small, reminded us of a early 20th century rooming house.

not a great experience

Hotel did not have our confirmation in the computer when we arrived. After I had to show confirmation, we were placed in a lesser size and quality of a room reserved. Eventually we moved to an adequate room after the front desk competely botched the process (multiple comedy of errors). Not much of an apology was rendered from the from desk, and after we expreseed our concern, we were offered a free breakfast...coffee and a pastry. After much walking and sight seeing, we returend to the hotel. We wanted a bottle of cold water from the dispensing machine. We needed quarters to operate, didn't have any, so asked the front desk for change. They didn't have any change either and asked if we minded walking about a 1.5 blocks to get some. This is about 10.30pm. Are you kidding me? So we go to the room and get the bottled water in the room and go to get ice....and you guessed it, the ice machine was out of order. Paper thin walls as conversation and noise easily heard in adjacent rooms. The following morning the entire room's electricity cut out twice while operating their hair dryer. Some positives....staff was very helpful with directions around town and sites to see. The bed was very comfortable.

The Worst!!!

Yikes! This hotel was completely horrible. The staff was rude, the place was a dump and homeless people were wandering the hallways asking for money! The toilet was wedged in between the tub and the wall so tight you couldn't sit on it without one leg in the tub! The room smelled like perfumed roadkill and we got stuck on the scary elevator! Under no circumstances would we ever stay here again!!

Excellent location and staff

Although hotel needs new carpets and other cosmetic updates in the guest rooms,it's location is exellent. Staff is very friendly and helpful.Everything was pretty much at the walking distance. Trip to mount renier was breath taking and the short cruise to Blake island with salmon dinner and native American dance was a money worth spent.

Great Location but small

The hotel was really nice and in a GREAT location. Close to many attractions. The hotel staff was OUTSTANDING. I can't say enough about how helpful they were. The hotel also offers rides to and from the airport and the Piers for cruises. There is a charge of course, but it's cheaper than a cab and other services, so ask them about it. The only downside is that the room, bed, and bathroom was smaller than what we had on the cruise ship. It wasn't a big deal for us, but in case you care, take note.
