Just Say "No" to "European Style"
Let me preface this by saying that the College Inn's location is solid- nestled in the U District. Things, however, fall apart when one discusses the accommodations: the inn describes itself as being "European style." In my mind's eye, the term evokes fancy palaces adorned with tapestries- not sleeping in a youth hostel. Communal showers? Not my cup of tea. If the College Inn's rates ran similar to those of a hostel, this would be commensurate with the experience.

Great neighborhood for great price
While not a luxury hotel by any means (bathrooms are down the hall, there are no TV's, etc.), for the low-maintenance traveler, this is a great deal! For about half of what you'd pay for other hotels, you are a block away from a gorgeous campus and a ton of restaurants/bars/cafes. It has the feel of a European hostel. A must: try the downstairs bar-- bartenders were friendly, food was decent, feel was great. Tour the campus, see the view of Ranier, rent canoes at UW. There is no shortage of things to do here. And breakfast was a great bonus! They even leave granola bars and fruit near the office all day in case you're feeling snacky.

For only $60-80/night I didn't expect much, and wasn't let down. In-room sink, toilets & showers down the hall (2 per floor, gender segregated). 2nd floor men's is declining: 1 shower has been out for @least a year; now 1 toilet's out.

Unhappy Birthday
My girlfriend and I planned a onr night stay at a little hotel near the University of Washington. She wanted to explore her old college stomping grounds for her birthday. The worst part of our trip was that we didn't get to stay at the place we originally booked. Apparently there is some technical glitch in the system that overbooked our rooms at this hotel. The person at our original hotel was very nice and set us up at another hotel in the neighborhood. This was problematic for us since we had planned on walking around the neighborhood, and the new hotel was no where near as close to the sites that we wanted to see. In general we were very disappointed in how things worked out.

For only $60-80, I didn't expect much and wasn't disappointed. Room has a sink, but toilets& showers are down the hall. 1 of 2 men's showers on the 2nd floor is broken.

Not bad Not bad
It is a very nice option if you are visiting UW. Rooms are clean and everything was okay. But you will need to share the bathroom with your floor just like a dorm. I will recommend you to get at least queen bedrooms because they are much nicer and not too much more expensive. Single rooms are kind of small though.

A Great Value
The hotel is just a couple miles from the event I'm attending. The price is fantastically low, and my expectations are set accordingly. Thus I'm not disappointed.

Hotel was clean and nice. It has all the thing you need, and close to UW. However, the community shower was the downside.

College Inn, Seattle
If a Euro-style (shared bathroom) walkup works for you, this is the best hotel for the University of Washington area: quiet location and a firm, comfortable mattress for a great night's sleep, spotlessly clean room and shower, cool prints on the walls, and friendly staff, at less than half the price you'd pay anywhere else. And it's right by the campus and the student strip, for the best restaurants and shops in the area. Highly recommended.

Short walk from hotel
Cafe on the Ave, 4201 University Way, for breakfast or lunch: great omelets, good art on the walls, and the lattes are works of art too.
