A lovely hotel in the perfect location!
Frequent Traveler Dec 14, 2009
The hotel is in a renovated building in the heart of downtown Portland. The location is close to the MAX and street car and ... perfect for seeing downtown Portland by foot. The room was plenty big, with a very comfortable bed, and a separate alcove for the computer desk. The elevators were a tad slow, but only if you are slightly impatient (like me). The wine reception was nice and featured some local wines. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The fitness room was a bit small, but definately adequate with cardio machines and free weights. The only thing missing was a continental breakfast and in-room coffee, but the comfort and location made up for it. I would definately stay here again!

Prefer to stay at Kimpton's when available and reasonably priced. First time at the Vintage Plaza (stayed 9 times at the ... Monaco in Portland) The restaurant and bar are first class. Location is great. In the spirit of Portland we took the Tri-Met from and to the airport. the hotel is just 2 blocks from a Tri-Met stop (saved $70 on cab fare and the trip didn't take more than 10 minutes longer than a cab). The lobby is not user friendly, steps to the elevator(s) which are old, slow and break often. At check in/check out busy times, staff should use a queing system like airports. The VP serves as a great base for all Portland activities, the Saturday Market, Powell's, the Zoo and Test Garden and street food vendors. Great public transportation at/near the hotel. Staff are friendly, knowledgeable, prompt and courteous

The airline extra baggage fees present a new problem to travelers who want to bring back wine, beer and other local Portland products. The game now is to pack your own box and take it to either a Kinko's (which have the packing material and a UPS desk) or use the USPS priority mail system. The hotel staff correctly knew how to help.

The hotel was very nice. I had stayed their on one other occasion. The room I got was huge it had an area where they had a ... nice sofa and chair. Though I didn't need this much room it was nice to know they had this much space available. The only thing I didn't really like was the room did not have any windows to look out of but did have a row of skylights that let in day light. I prefer windows looking out.

Nice place, good service, no window!
tc Jul 6, 2009
Very nice room with good accommodations; huge lcd tv; big jacuzzi tub. The only thing we didn't enjoy was not having a ... window in the room. It felt like we were on the inner cabin of a cruise ship. Some sort of notification about "no window in this room" would have been nice ahead of time. There was a skylight that was not visible from most of the room due to the angle - unless you were right below it on the nice couch. Also, the TV, while big and nice, didn't turn towards the sitting area very much - stays pointed mostly at the bed.

Nice, intimate hotel
Seasoned Traveler Jun 24, 2009
This was a great little hotel. I believe it was recently remodeled and did a great job. Rooms were contemporary and ... spotless. Beds extremely comfortable. The staff was very accommodating. They were quick to help w/directions, suggestions for good restaurants, etc. They have a wonderful complimentary "wine happy hr" starting at 5:00- a great way to start the evening. The hotel is only a 7 min walk to Powell's Book Store and 10 min to the Pearl District. I would stay here again in a heartbeat. The only negative-overnight parking is $31.00. A little steep to me for Portland...

Lovely but not perfect
Frequent business traveler Jun 8, 2009
Lovely hotel in great downtown location. Love boutique-y feel of all Kimptons, this was no exception. But in the morning they ... had run out of lids for their coffee cups and it took 10 minutes (!) for someone to bring more out. The check out line at noon was only 3 people deep but with 1 staff person I gave up after 10 minutes and left without a receipt.

Classic Hotel
James Dec 27, 2008
Excellent downtown location, walking distance to many many restaurants, attractions and shopping. We were snowed in ... due to winter weather condiditons, so walking the downtown and the comfort afforded by our room was great. Initially we had a SkyLight room, but we found them too confining and not suitable for a long-term stay; so we relocated to a corner room with confortable bath a siting area any plenty of windows. I knew going in that the hotel was pet-friendly, but there were excessinve dogs, although we did not have odor or other issues. Food service was closed for Christmas, an unexpected inconvience. Remodeling of floor above us was underway, so noise and dust were a problem, likely to not chose Vintage had we known. Very good food at three venues!

Welcome to the Jungle
Gregory Dec 4, 2008
The hotel was nice, with complementary wine tastings in the evening. Upon check in, I opened the closet to put away my ... suitcase. Hanging on the rack were a pair of male and female pajamas: leopard print for her, zebra for him. A laugh out loud experience. That aside, the hotel was central to where I needed to be for my work in Portland. The bar was friendly and carried the Scotch I prefer. All in all, a good stay.

I stayed at this hotel once before, for a few weeks. The staff is very friendly & helpful. My room. was clean & comfortable. ... I was a little disappointed that there was no coffee maker in the room, although there is complimentary coffee in the lobby in the mornings. If you don't make it down, there are a million coffee shops & restaurants within a 3 block radius. This hotel is centrally located a few blocks away from downtown, and is convenient to everything. There is a bus stop right on the corner, and the max is right only a block or 2, if you don't want to walk.
