Nice for the price

The food and drinks in the bar were reasonably priced and tasty, and the view was lovely. My room was huge with a balcony; a little dated and close to the highway, but nice overall. Bathrooms seem to be upgraded. A nice spot in Olympia -- I would stay again.

A pleasant stay for New Years Eve

We had a rare night away from the kids, and needed to stay in the Olympia area as our kids were dropped off with friends in the area. We chose the Red Lion based on reviews and region, and it was just what we were after. The room was average. Comfortable, quiet, but nothing amazing. The site was pleasant, with trees around the building and a nearby lake. The staff was friendly and helpful. We walked around the downtown Olympia area in the day, but stayed at the hotel for the evening/night as it was icy out and we are too old to care about big parties for NYE. We had a nice (but not stellar, halibut was fried and heavier than expected) dinner, enjoyed some coctails and listed to a jazz band at the hotel. We enjoyed the fireplace in the morning while doing some reading in the lobby. Overall, we were satisfied with our quiet retreat.

Dining tip: Short drive from hotel

You are fairly limited in dinner options in this area. The hotel is in the middle of a business park. There is a nice local place called the Oyster House not far a short drive). It's very reasonably priced with quite a bit of variety on the menu. Sounds funny, but I tried the taco salad and it was great. The seafood was also (as expected) very good.

Red Lion Olympia

Hotel staff are less desirable, to say the ast. The are each, in their own way, quite odd, seemingly uneducated, and appear more than irritated with their current job positions. i could go on.. but really?? less than desirable sums it up.

Money-saving tip: Short drive from hotel

We were here for a All Star Baseball Tournament and the staff was not family friendly, especially considering how much money we would be spending here over a weeks period. I changed Hotels.

Dated but nice hotel

Great location with a lake behind the complex. Can hear the freeway about 1/4 mile away, so ask for a distant room. Rooms are dated and need of an upgrade. They are putting on a new roof, but the whole exterios needs a paint job, and the rooms need to be updated.

Family and dog friendly

It was a nice sized room with good quality furniture and clean for a reasonable price. I like the fact that they allowed dogs.
