Average in every sense

Stayed three nights. Room coffee drunk first morning and never replaced. Ran out of toilet paper. Both rolls. In other words, doesn't look like anyone bothered to check the room. Place smells like mold. Charge $5 for a very nasty breakfast which should really be complimentary. Will not be going back.

Nightlife tip: Short walk from hotel

Cryptatropa is a great bar. How many places do you know with an embalming table at the entrance? That many! Wow. Great cocktails and music.

great location

An older building, but very comfortable, updated room. Easy walk to capitol and waterfront park, farmers' market, etc. Got a great deal, which included breakfast.

Governor Hotel- Marathon Weekend

I selected this hotel due to its location in relation to a show I was playing on Saturday plus amenities described on their website for their suite. I would have selected a different hotel had I a.) done my research and saw that the Olympia marathon start/finish line on Sunday May 18th was directly in front of the hotel (oh yeah, really appreciated the 8AM wake up call via marathon announcer.) and b.) not been deceived by their fictitious website description of their king suite. In particular- they did not have two TV's in their suite. And the "balcony" was hardly a balcony. No bath robes, windows not as described, etc. Good stuff: very friendly staff including their night shift person who helped us find a place to eat in the wee hours of the night. Better breakfast selection than most hotels. Easy check in/check out, free guest parking!

Great location, needs work

The Governor House is making a good effort towards modernizing, the room decor is updated but does not have enough outlets for charging devices on the desk or bedside tables. The bathrooms are modern but the fiberglass shower/tub was peeling! One elevator broke. Hallways need fresh paint. Fabulous location right downtown, free parking, friendly staff, OK breakfast, Starbucks across the street for good coffee, lots of restaurants nearby. I'd stay there again.

Great Place in Olympia

We stayed here to run in the Capital City Marathon, which started and finished right in front of the hotel. They were very accomodating to the runners, and there were extremely courteous and friendly. We would stay here again if we need to go back to Olympia.

perfect location for the Olympia Half marathon race

We were treated cordially coming and going. would book again in the future. We came for the Olympia Half Marathon and our room looked down on the finish line. We also ate at a great restaurant nearby, walked to the capital grounds and found the entire experience to be quite enjoyable. The hotel is centrally located and easily found. Many thanks.

Great location for what I needed...smelly hotel.

I chose the Governor Hotel because of its location. I was there during the bi-annual Olympia Art Walk and you don't get better than this location! When you walk into the hotel, the first thing you notice is the smell. I kid you not, it is a mix between feet and body odor. Not good. The receptionist was surly at best. Check in was quick and parking was free, so that was a plus. There is no signage to help you know where to park while you check in so it took a few times to realize that you just park in the lot and then come back with a pass. I got to my room and the door was open. Open! This freaked me out but was the result of a door that was a little tight and a lazy housekeeping staff who hadn't bothered to pull it closed. The room door next to mine was also open. The room was clean and luckily smelled better than the lobby. My bathroom had some disgusting reminders of the previous occupant (think "hair") but overall I would give the room a respectable mark in cleanliness. I did encounter a housekeeping staff member loudly complaining about management in the hallway of my floor. Check out was simple. Overall, the price and location are great but there could definitely be some major improvements.

Super comfy bed

I wanted a nice hotel for a Valentine's weekend. We hardly spent any time at the hotel but slept very well in the great bed. Great location, too!
