Request the remodeled rooms

The remodeled rooms are great but there are very few of them. The other rooms are in poor condition but are very clean. The staff is helpful. The location is great for walking in the downtown area. Breakfast is average.

Recent Overnight

This hotel was absolutely nothing like what it claimed to be. It was absolutely not a "boutique" hotel, in that it's essentially an old Ramada. I understand there are some remodeled rooms, but most are still very old and not well maintained. They in no way look like the photographs. They are very old. The carpet is stained and does not lay properly. The bathtub in our room was yellow (that was obviously not it's original color) and the shower was one tiny stream of water, much like a sink faucet. The staff was courteous, and the location great, but I would not stay there again.

A good place to stay. Fix the elevators.

We had the king size suite and the bed was very comfortable. The staff was very friendly and helpful. They provided bath robes which were very comfortable. The was no tv channel directory. The room had a great view but it was too hot during the night. We had to open the sliding glass door for cool air. The elevators were in rough shape, esp the #2 elevator which felt and sounded like we were riding in a vertical freight train. There is no hot tub or sauna even though the room directory said there was. The location was great with plenty of resturants and shops. The complimentary breakfast was great with omelete style eggs, bacon and cereal, but had no fruit. We really enjoyed ourselves at this hotel.

Nice day away from the Hords

My husband and I had a very nice time in Olympia and enjoyed our stay at the Governor Hotel. We had a recently-renovated room overlooking the lake - beautiful view - and found the room most comfortable and the staff very pleasant. I love the fact that they have gone "green" with recycling in the rooms, admonitions to not have towels washed daily if not needed, and low-flow showers. We would go back.

Good for what we wanted

Very friendly staff, and they dealt promptly with a noisy guest at 2 am. The rooms were a bit down on the heel (bathtubs were kind of shabby) but for a family of 7 sharing three rooms, it worked out just fine and we were happy. We didn't try the breakfast because one of our party had her heart set on a place elswhere, but from what we could see, it looked better than we might have expected.

Governor Hotel

The stay started great as I walked to the front counter, and the lone staff member had phones ringing off the hook. He greeted me promptly and said he would be right with me. He also had to deal with some upset customers and was very polite and kept his cool. The view from the 7th floor balcony window was gorgeous. The location in town and right near capitol park was perferct. The complimentary breakfast was delicious. The staff was corteous and friendly. However....the bed was very uncomfortable. The shower water was backwards. The ceiling in the shower was dripping water from the floor above us. I may go back just because of the location but I'd probably do it during the week when the rates are more reasonable.

An aging property

This looks like it was once a grand hotel, with an active bar and restaurant. It has been renovated at least once, but could use it again. The view from the room was excellent, overlooking a lake with the south end of Puget Sound visible as well. The wireless internet worked well and breakfast was good. But: Of the 2 elevators, only one was operational and it was pretty slow. The bathroom was small and the drop in tub and shower was in really bad shape, scraped up with a partially clogged shower head and no plug for the tub drain. The central AC had a thermostat, but I am not sure it worked. At least we could get cooling though. The pool was closed - we were told for repair, but there was no sign of any work being done. We had a two queen room, but the arrangement was strange, in that the table between the beds was small so that it was almost 2 feet from either bed. The handle on the drawer of that table was broken as well. A wall socket had a cover plate that fell off, exposing the wiring. All in all, I would rate it as 2 stars, OK for an inexpensive one night stay.

Outsanding Staff

Seriously, the friendliest, most helpful staff I've ever seen. Every single person I encountered there went out of her way to make sure we were having a great stay. That said, the unrefurbished rooms are rough around the edges, but they were also cheap. Some others in my group were in the renovated rooms and those were much much nicer (though 50% more).
