Rethink your stay
The service was less than par, the rooms sucked overall. Showers were non working in either of the rooms they put us in... just a poor choice in a place to stay (for our wedding night, mind you).

Visiting Family and Friends
The Hotel was great, location was amazing could walk all over downtown Olympia and had a nice view from our large window facing the lake. The staff was very friendly and helpful, we were greeted nicely everytime we arrived or left. The pool was clean and refreshing and the staff was even kind to a seagull that was a bit to close for comfort, he took it all the way back to the park...by hand :)

The interior is starting to show its age; but my room was clean & quiet, and the staff were very friendly & helpful. There was always at least one person at the front desk, even at 11:30pm when I needed help printing from their free Internet terminal.

Short walk from hotel
The Governor Hotel was a short walk to everything I needed: capitol building, park across the street, nice restaurants, several quaint book shops, flower shop, farmers market, library. And Starbucks is on the corner. Next time I stay here, I'm going to the opera down the street!

Pretty good
Booked this hotel very last minute on a saturday night. Got to the hotel almost at 11pm. The lady at the front desk was very friendly and professional, she made the check-in very fast. The parking lot was pretty good, even late at night there were still spots available. My hotel room was pretty big considering what I paid for it. The bed and bedding were alright pretty standard. The bathroom bathtub was old and worn. The water in the shower wouldn't stay at a constant temperature. I would let it get to the right temperature but then it would get too hot. They didn't have wi-fi, you actually had to connect an ethernet cable to your computer. That didn't really work out very well on my laptop. They have instructions on how to set it up, but the instructions only go up to Windows XP. I just used my smartphone to get emails. Once again during the check-out received great service from the front desk.

Thegovernor's toilet
It was the worst experience in a hotel I have ever had. The bathtub had lime stains covering it and thepp. furniture and nasty wallpaper was completely outdated. I would never ever recommend this place to anyone Never again will I stay there. The outside looks are deceiving because the inside is nasty. In the breakfast buffet I found a hair in my food. That is all I have to say but I bet there are many more problems with it.

surprisingly nice
After reading previous reviews about this hotel, I was a bit worried. We were very pleased to find a very clean looking and clean smelling room with a fantastic view of the capital and lake. We came to stay with our son who was serving as a page in the capital and walked there every day. The staff is friendly and helpful. The complimentary breakfast was outstanding! plently more than just yogurt and cold cereal. On occassion we had a "whif" of cigarett smell in the room through the vent and there wasn't any fan in the bathroom. The shops in the area are very "local". If you want a grocery store or pharmacy, plan on a short drive. The front desk was helpful with a map and directions. Overall, very comfortable and pleasant - best price in town.

Short drive from hotel
Get a map and direcions from the front desk if you are looking for everyday grocery type items. Every shop downtown is a specialty type shop with out of the ordinary items so plan accordingly.

Pleasently Surprised!
First of all,I had already hit the "confirm" button before reading the reviews. After reading what was about 60percent negative reviews,I decided it would be best to keep an open mind.My travel companion & I both agreed that there was no reason for anything but positive review. We were in town to attend a rare performance by one of our favorite bands,& the hotel was only 2 blocks from the theatre. That was a bonus in itself.

Will not stay again. The staff was wonderful, incredibly friendly. However, the condition of the hotel was awful. The hallway had peeling wallpaper and was dark. The room included mold and rust in the shower and was dingy and extremely outdated.

A lttle ragged around the edges.
The staff was very friendly and helpful, which made our stay acceptable. The hotel itself is in a state of disrepair. "Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain." They are trying hard and pretending everything is fine. There is a mount for a flat panel tv hanging in the restaurant, like the had to hawk the tv. Very odd. The restaurant was not run as a restaurant. It was just used as a place to put the buffet breakfast. The pool, sauna and hot tub are out of order, but you probably won't notice because you need to follow the halls in the basement to find them, along with the gym. I would recommend this hotel to someone who wanted to stay in a good location, within walking distance to everything-someone who wanted to stay for less, and didn't care about the disrepair, lack of amenities or an actual restaurant. Place was clean and staff was perfectly gracious.

We saved over $400. on our 3 weeks of rental car charges by renting from Olympia instead of the airport. Also, we saved $45. per person by taking the bus instead of the shuttle from SEA to Olympia.
