if youre into that sort-a-thing

If youre into the casino thing, then im sure the Silver Reef is fine. we ran into a few problems. The wait staff at the in hotel restaurants were not willing to accommodate my wife's dietary needs. Some restaurants we have to work directly with the chef and make entrée customer to her diet but the wait staff would just not even consider it. The pool and spa area was filthy. The management said that the lining of the spa and pool were just stained and that the pool itself is actually clean but nonetheless, it looked disgusting. If you are staying here over the weekend, good luck finding parking. that was my biggest frustration was coming back from a long day out and just wanting to relax but instead you are surveying the parking lot for, in my case, almost 40 minutes. I understand that they have events and shows every weekend, but i definitely did not feel like a guest when i show up and there is no where to park.

Very nice experience

Great quality rooms, spacious, clean, nice finishes. The hotel is very upscale and separate enough from the casino, i.e. the slotmachines are not in your face but easily accessible. nice restaurants Perfect location in terms of distance to Bellingham airport

Great Girls Getaway

The restaurants were VERY good, all our meals were great value for money. Loved the bar with the dance floor and on Saturday night the 9 peice band was AMAZING! Danced the night away. Cute bartendar with blonde hair called [...], he is Canadain so its even better!Hotel staff was lacking, mixed up our reservations, hotel beds did not get made up while we were out all day and we had to phone down at 4pm when we got back. Otherwise all was good.

The hotel stay from Hell

I headed out Friday to enjoy my nieces wedding weekend in Bellingham. I left after work so I had called a head for late check in. With all that I had to bring wedding gifts, decor, my personal belongings etc. I pulled up front to get a cart or have a bell hop give me a hand. There wasn't either. Needless to say I had to park check in and make several trips there after. I could hardly stand the smokey smell of the lobby and could not wait to get to my nonsmoking room. As I entered my room I couldn't be more disappointed...it stunk!! I called down to the front desk to inquire on a room change. He said that wasn't possible but he could have someone come up and do a two hour process to neutralize the smell. It was already 8:30 by this time so of course that wasn't an option I was interested in. I decided to go down and get a a bite to eat. When my waitress finally showed up... I order Fried Chicken with mash potatoes gravy on the side, salad with Ranch and a roll. The chicken was clearly not fresh hard as a rock and not even warm, my potatoes came with brown gravy on them, I got a salad with French and never received a roll after asking for it twice.I have never dealt with a hotel staff that was so inattentive and rude from the bartenders, front desk to the gal running the gift shop front desk. It took me 5 minutes to buy allergy tablets and we were the only two in the shop. Of to bed I went...the bed was as hard as a rock! I woke up Saturday determined to turn things around. I decided to get a facial and a message in the spa. They didn't have staff on shift for either of those services. I settled on a pedicure. I paid $55 for a 40 min service that didn't involve a foot message...and she burnt the bottom of my foot with a heated lotion of some sort. I couldn't wait to head up to my room get ready for the wedding and get out of this place. I had a fabulous time at Jessica's wedding. Being an evening wedding it lasted well into the night.I was thankful to have gotten to avoid the hotel by this point. I woke up in the morning attempted to have another bite to eat...same experience as the first. I decided to count my losses pack up and head home. The hotel definitely had potential but you just get the impression no one working there could careless. It was almost like you are doing them a favor by being there. There management should really up there game. I was in the service industry for years. I would have been absolutely embarrassed to have known someone had the experience that I did.

Perfectly serviceable hotel

We stayed at this hotel during the Olympics because it's a convenient hour's drive away from Vancouver. Room was clean and comfortable, bathroom well equipped, staff helpful. We didn't venture into the casino, but the cafe had adequate food; breakfast buffet was above average and the the dinner buffet was plentiful seafood. A convenient and comfortable place to stay close to the Canadian border.

Loved the Hotel, the Casino, Not so much

The staff were uniformly lovely and the hotel was beautiful inside--well lit, lots of windows, beds that felt like sleeping on a cloud. (It might have helped that we were exhausted from an all-day trip to Vancouver!) We wanted to take advantage of the pool and spa (lovely and reasonably priced), but were only staying for one night and didn't have time. The only downside was that the hot breakfast (included with the price of the room!) was next to the casino--the bleeping and flashing lights, as well as the omnipresent smell of cigarette smoke wafting from the gamblers was not exactly how I wanted to start my day.

Sightseeing tip: Short drive from hotel

We wanted a scenic drive back to Seattle, and the front desk staff pointed us to the Chuckanut Drive--beautiful views of the water and fir trees for which the Northwest is justly famous. Many of the sights, however, (Rhododendron Cafe, Nature Interpretive Centers) are closed on Mondays and Tuesdays, so plan ahead!
