A great place to stay while visiting the 2010 Olympics in Vancouver. Welcome to the Bay City Motor Inn in Bellingham-not far from Everett. Clean, comfortable accommodations feature one king-size bed or two queen-size beds. Ample amenities and excellent services guarantee a pleasant stay. Our terrific location provides divine attractions that are easy to get to such as San Juan Islands and Mt. Baker. Plus, were incredibly close-within a one-mile radius-of several fine dining establishments.

Nicer from the outside

Nice area to explore and drive around, but the hotel was not clean and the staff neither friendly nor helpful. We are not hard to please and have stayed in some real "dives"...this was one of them. The furniture in the room was coming apart due to apparent water damage. The door was really hard to open, dragging on the carpet. The sink was cracked and the shower curtain smelly and mildewy (this alone would have been cheap for them to fix and would have made our stay more pleasant). The complimentary soap was the size of a "chicklet". Indeed, this place was inexpensive and I guess you get what you pay for...but next time I'll spend a little more. A refreshing break from the hotel is to drive up the Mount Baker Scenic Highway...beautiful!!

Not good

This motel is near food and gas, in a decent area and very close to WWU. The room was large and the bathroom seemed clean, but the rest of the room was quite dirty. There was grime all over the switch plates, outlet covers, and around the sink. I also found trash left from the previous occupants near the bed which leads me to believe that the vacuuming isn't very thorough. The lamp shades were cracked and the outlets were so loose that the plugs would fall out, we only found one that could charge our phones. We couldn't use our laptop because the internet connection didn't seem to work. If cleanliness isn't a big issue for you then you'd probably be fine, but we were kind of appalled.

Clean, comfortable, friendly owner

My son and I stayed here recently the night before a visit to Western Washington University. We were only a few minutes away from campus, which was great. The room was clean and the beds were very comfortable. Also, the shower was at a great height for tall people, unlike those at many hotels. Although we were late in the morning for the continental breakfast, the owner brought out food for us, replenished the orange juice dispenser, and stayed to chat about his family and life in Bellingham. We would definitely stay there again!

never again

This stay was terrible. We had a 9 month old baby and they stuck us in a smoking room. They told us hotel was full, but we didn't see hardly anyone!

One night only

I choose the hotel for it's proximity to the Amtrak Station. I got in and check in was a breeze. The desk clerk was friendly. My room was as other have stated, very dated. I am okay with that as long as it is clean. When I pull the bedspread back there was a small bug on the sheet under the pillow. I called the front desk and i explained the situation. The clerk said, "What would you like me to do?" I told him to either change me to a room without a bug in the bed or bring up clean linens. He came up with a new bedspread, no sheets and said, "Do you want me to do this?". I showed him the bug, he picked it up and pinched it and tossed it on the carpet behind him. Then changed the bedspread and left the room. Needless to say I did not sleep on those sheets. I basically stayed awake all night and hoped that I wouldn't bring home any little critters from this hotel. The hotel also said they had am/fm clock radio and a hairdryer. If they did I couldn't find them. Their continental breakfast was some crusty pastries on a tray and coffee. I skipped it. Too bad I arrived so late and did not have a car otherwise I would have left and found another place to stay. I will not be a repeat customer.

Good to go to

No frills, but very reasonably priced, comfortable and clean place to stay when you're going to be on the go during the day. Easy access to the freeway and local groceries. Wireless connection was instant and no extra cost; small fridge and microwave made snacks and in-between munchies easy to handle. HV/AC was a little noisy, but served as good 'white noise' for the sleepers.

Just what we neded

The location, just far enough off the freeway near a local shopping center and several moderate-price restaurants, was perfect for us. We wanted very clean, basic, comfortable lodging while visiting ill friends. This was ideal. The wireless connection was instantaneous with no muss, fuss, or charge. Other amenities were few, but we weren't looking for them. Had a little trouble with loose electrical outlets, but considered that minor. Comfortable sleeping quarters, good houskeeping. We'll go back.
