This is an authentic railroad era hotel situated in the village of White River Jct. Vermont which is part of the larger Dartmouth College community. It is one mile from the interstate highways - 89 and 91 - and central to all the villages of the Upper Valley region. The hotel has been very well maintained and has a country inn feel with a fireplace in the lobby and thoughtfully appointed guest rooms. Private baths wireless internet satellite TV coin-op laundry and an elevator speak to modern touches. Four function/meeting rooms invite weddings small conferences and special events. The village features unique shops several restaurants and eateries as well as excellent professional theater a rail museum easy access to two rivers for swimming canoeing and tubing and daily train excursions. The Hotel Coolidge is situated in the center of the the historic village of White River Jct. Vermont. The village includes a number of eateries a professional theater a passenger rail station with daily service a museum and shops and galleries. It is on the scenic byway of the Connecticut River where it meets the White River and is four miles from Dartmouth College.

Nice old place that was probably better when younger

Stayed overnight. Nice old wooden hotel, well worn stairs. Staff friendly, but not outgoing. Rooms were clean, old, plenty of soap and towels. Limited Cable TV. Nothing special in terms of amenities. No breakfast (attached cafe opens at 9AM), but bagel place a few doors down was good. Loud stereo at 4AM that Mgmt did not address. Overpriced for value offered.

Disappointed

Yes, the hotel had charm and personality from the long ago train era but it needed to be updated. I found no coffee pots in the room or complimentary coffee in the lobby disappointing. Dining in the area was minimal. The countryside was beautiful!

They Tried.

It felt like being in 1925. No a/c. Reception person friendly. He tried but didn't know facts. How many rooms? History? Room fairly clean but really OLD. We had a "suite". Bed and sitting room separated by bathroom. Extra sink in sitting room with rust in sink. It was probably a neat spot in 1926. Cal would have loved it.

I expected more for the price

The Hotel Coolidge was interesting because of its history, but I wish more money had gone toward remodeling and upkeep. The hotel was clean but somewhat shabby. I liked the fact that there was a sitting room and two sinks, but the shower had very little water pressure and inconsistent water temperature. The cable/satellite TV signal was poor. Several channels did not come in clearly at all. For the price, I would have expected more amenities such as a fitness center or even a complimentary breakfast bar. I would recommend the hotel for a short stay, but I would hesitate to return. I could probably find better accomodations for the price.

Journey to a Previous Time

White River Junction (and the Hotel Coolidge) seem lost in time--a town with few amenities within the confines of the town itself and few patrons.
