Reasonable
I booked this hotel through Orbitz and got a quote, but upon check-in, the receptionist told me that she needed to charge additional tax. It was about $10 more, which is not much, but it gave me a bad feeling. The room was small and reasonably clean. The view around the hotel is nice.

Good value for basic services
Out of season meant fewer hotel services than at other times, but I was only looking for basic services so I enjoyed a comfortable night in a clean spacious room, close to where I was attending a resort-based business conference, at a reasonable price.

Could use a little updating
We came for the fall foliage making our reservation for Town and Country back in February. The hotel is nice enough and we really liked the location of our room which was downstairs in the back very near the entrance to the hotel restaurant. There was no real traffic noise in this room. However, we had a door to an adjoining room and we could hear clearly any conversations taking place in that room. The room itself was kind of old with a small bathroom. The water that came out in the tub was kind of brownish most likely from older plumbing. I would not drink the water from this room. The hotel is conveniently located in Stowe near shopping and restaurants. The staff was friendly and the off-the-menu breakfast that is included in the price of the room was very good and generous. The first morning I had blueberry pancakes with delicious sausage and cranberry juice and my husband had a Vermont Cheddar cheese omelet with bacon, hash browns and toast. Our second morning there was a bus group having breakfast and we had a nice breakfast buffet that included scrambled eggs, fruit, coffeecake, pancakes, oatmeal, cold cereal with bacon or sausage and hash browns brought by the waitress to regular guests. There is an indoor pool but we did not use it. The lobby needs some updating. The upholstery is very worn with holes in the arms of the wing chairs and a throw over the sofa. We had a very delicious pizza our first night in Stowe at Piecasso Pizza Restaurant. I highly recommend it. The second night we had dinner at Harrison's and had a very delicious meal there. While our stay was nice enough at Town and Country, if I ever stay in Stowe again, I might be tempted to try one of the many other hotels in town.

Short drive from hotel
If you visit Ben and Jerry's when it's crowded and want to take the tour, I suggest you get in line for your tour tickets first and then while waiting for your tour, enjoy an ice cream cone.

Good value in a skiing hotspot
We have stayed at the Town and Country Inn twice. First time was 32 years ago when we took our honeymoon in Stowe. 2nd time was last weekend. We were hesitant to return because we had enjoyed ourselves so much previously, we were afraid that it couldn't live up to our expectations. After all, we were just a couple of kids back then, right? Well, the facilities were just as good as we had remembered them. No, this isn't the Taj Mahal. I'm sure you can find much fancier accommodations at one of the high bucks places along the Mountain road. But for the price paid, it was nice and quiet (just what 2nd honeymooners want) and the staff was very pleasant and accommodating.
