Perhaps it's the pristine location, the classic beauty, or the history that has evolved here. Or maybe it's the fact that one cultivates a sense of contentment throughout every season at Stowe. Now, with the advent of Stowe Mountain Lodge, this unique New England ski town in Vermont reaffirms its place as a renowned destination for discerning world travelers.

For over a century Stowe has attracted travelers who have cherished the beauty of the area's covered bridges, sparkling lakes, rambling woodlands and majestic peaks. Opened in June 2008, Stowe Mountain Lodge sets a new standard of luxury and aesthetics for the East Coast's most magnificent resort. Built in the new "Vermont-Alpine" style, Stowe Mountain Lodge offers a truly luxurious setting, while still paying respect to the Vermont traditions of utilizing local artisan products and embracing the tranquility of nature.

The six-story, 312-room lodge draws on the architectural tradition of turn-of-the-century summer camps created by the great families of New England. The lodge's exterior features a picturesque facade of woven timber and shingles that draw upon the natural harmony found in nature, as well as stone veneer created from local quarries, and expansive glass to bring the beauty of the lodge's outdoor surroundings to the indoors.

The interior design further emphasizes the fresh and contemporary take on natural beauty, enabling guests to experience Vermont lodging through a melange of old and new, rustic and romantic. Interchanging natural Vermont woods and stones, birch bark columns and detailing provides a simplistic backdrop to lively, contemporary folk art pieces. The color palette of the local seasons - vibrant reds, deep oranges, warm yellows and soothing greens - in varying patterns and textures found in the upholstery of inviting furnishings.

Each room has been custom-designed as a respite from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, with warm tones, plush furnishings and soothing amenities. All rooms are framed by oversized windows and outdoor balconies, allowing guests to take full advantage of the remarkable mountain landscape of Mt. Mansfield and Spruce Peak.

Stowe has long beckoned visionaries. From the Roosevelts and Vanderbilts who graced the Summit House in the 1860s, to the international ski racers a hundred years later, citizens of the world have long been attracted by Mount Mansfield's extraordinary beauty and boundless potential. Now, with the creation of Stowe Mountain Lodge, the mountain has reaffirmed its reputation as a world-class resort. Winter, spring, summer and autumn: each season expresses its own beauty on the face of Mount Mansfield, and activities abound.

Valet parking is available for $20/night.

Independence Day weekend

Overall it was excellent. Service was great. Room clean and updated. Nice views and amenities. Cons would be that the pool closes way too early (they kick you out at 9pm sharp, come on I'm on vacation! Why the curfew?) and there is no locker room where you can change with sauna, steam room, etc that you find at most luxury resorts like killinton grand, okemo, etc. Game room is more like a kids arcade and could use stuff like pool table, ping pong... Also you pay 21$ for mandatory valet plus are expected to tip every time you get your car if you want to go into the town. Also a lot of snobby people that make less $ than me @ age 28, but I'm friendly.

Perfect Escape from the City

This was our fifth stay at Stowe Mountain Lodge, and we are planning another trip in December. The staff is so professional and friendly. Our room had a fireplace and a lovely view of the mountains, it was very romantic. There are many hiking and exercise classes offered. This trip we enjoyed massages at the spa. I left feeling healthier and refreshed.

Best East Coast ski trip

Stowe Mountain Lodge is the perfect place to stay while skiing at Stowe. The ski valet is extremely convenient. You can just leave your skis outside on the rack and they will take care of them until you are ready to use them again. Our room was beautiful, spacious and comfortable. Press a button and the fireplace turns itself on for up to an hour. It turns itself off. The room include a mini fridge, microwave, small stove and dishwasher which we used for breakfast and snacks.

Great weekend getaway

The hotel has a Swiss chalet look to it that is very pretty and fitting in the mountains. The staff is very inviting and kind. We had a king suite which had a mini kitchen that was great for warming up leftovers. The dinner at Solstice was great. Make sure you try the cheese plate and mac and cheese.

Sightseeing tip: Short drive from hotel

Take a right from the hotel to a scenic drive to see great rock formations along a curvy road. Stop at the park on the left to explore the boulders, cave and creek.

Last minute stay

Stowe Mountain Lodge was a fantastic place to stay. A great place to get away from it all with an excellent staff, and very comfy accommodations. We stayed there last minute on a whim and we could not have been more pleased.

Nice resort, but pricey.

Great resort and amenities - they say you get what you pay for, and this was very pricey, but very nice. $5.00 bottle of water was a bit rediculous!

Fabulous foliage find

We wanted to enjoy the fall foliage in New England. The Stowe Mountain Lodge was a great place to stay. Not only was the lodge itself beautiful but the surrounding mountain side was just what we hoped to see. The leaves were at their peak on Mt Mansfield and it was gorgeous! The restaurant at he lodge, Solstice, was delicious. The concierge was very knowledgeable. The only downside was the fireplace didn't work even after several requests to have it looked at. And the housekeeping service was so-so. I would recommend this hotel.

Lagniappe's restaurant is delicious. Featuring cajun/creole dining in a charming old farmhouse, the food was amazing and the service was even better.

Exceptional Service

A beautiful setting for a quick get away. From the moment the first employee met us at valet until the time we left, we experienced exceptional service. The concierge recommended a hike up Mt. Mansfield that exactly met our skill and view desires. I can't say enough about the entire staff. The room and bathroom were spacious and comfortable and the Indian marble throughout the hotel was gorgeous. I would definitely stay again.
