Basic and comfortable

This hotel could use some updating, but it's clean and pretty comfortable. The bed is firm and the pillows are not too overstuffed, a pet peeve of mine in motels. Good channels through Dish network, good internet access, and very friendly owners. Best price in Rutland during foliage weekend, within walking distance of a restaurants, and if you don't mind a no frills motel, this one will do just fine.

Hot water and heat

We were in town for work for the weekend at Killington Mountain. It was a decent half an hour drive away and much better priced than the hotels closer to the mountain. The room wasn't great but it had hot water and a warm room with decent beds which is pretty much all we were looking for.

Cheap, clean and friendly

We stayed here for one night during a snowboarding weekend in December. The rate was very low, the staff was friendly, and the room was clean. It was pretty bare bones (although there was a mini fridge and free wifi) and the decor was a little weird, but we were just looking for a place to sleep so whatever. The blankets were a little thin, but we had control of the heat and it cranked out nicely so there was no problems there.

Good for the Money

The room was small and so was the bathroom, but the service was awesome and the lady at the counter was terrific. For the money it was as we expected and if we needed to stay again it would not be a problem.

High-five for the Highlander Motel

We were visiting family in the area for a large graduation party and wanted to stay close to activities. The beds were more comfortable than ones I have slept in at five star resorts. Our non-smoking spacious room was on the upper level close to the street, but the traffic was not an issue at all. The hotel was a bit dated, but for the price and convenience to area and activities, well worth it. I would stay here again. Our check in was flawless, and staff very, very friendly.

No frills and no big bill

Staff person was very friendly at this location. This is a typical run down old motel where they do have amenities such as free internet and satellite TV, but haven't done all of the needed upkeep and updating. For instance- no fan in tiny bathroom so blinds were moldy. Missing light bulbs in some fixtures. Linens seemed fairly clean and room was equipped with microwave and fridge. If you just need a place to sleep and are not wanting to drop $100, this should work out. Not sure if I would recommend staying here in the middle of winter, as our room was heated with a space heater. I believe heating system was malfunctioning.

Buyer beware

Attending a conference, I was looking for a economically priced room for the night. The price of this motel was in the range I was looking for. Problems included, while designated as a non-smoking room, it definitely had been smoked in, it smelled bad. The room was very worn, with holes in the bed covering, discolored curtins, and a tentative TV set-up that was difficult to use. If you are a smoker, looking for a inexpensive place to crash, this room might be ok, otherwise look else where.

Clean, no frills

Met minimal needs for overnight accommodation while visiting family in the area. Excellent restaurant just across the street, open early for breakfast. Minimal bed linens (no fitted sheet, had to request blanket).
