Fair price

The hotel was right near the highway and easy to get to. The rooms were clean. The lobby area needs updating, but the rooms are decent inside. Can't beat the price.

Good deal but needs some polish

The hotel is pretty affordable and in a good location, but it is a little dreary inside. Pool could be cleaned up. Breakfast nook / former restaurant could be spruced up a little.

decent for the money

Cheapest hotel off I 89 we could find in mid Vermont. Smells like an old casino in the hallways. Room, however, was fine. Sheets clean. Door locks. Near highway. What else do you want? Friendly staff. Also, very cheap online rate - better than rate offered by front desk.

Good value, needs a refresh

Cheapest hotel between Hanover and Burlington off I89. Booked via mobile phone 30 minutes out. Got a better rate online than calling directly. Hotel hallways REEK of stale cigarettes - smells like a casino. If I owned it I'd tear up all the carpets. However, room was ok, not so much smell. Sheets clean. Towels clean (though kind of worn). Hot water good. This is about value, people, nothing else. Continental breaksfast ok...but simply that.

You get what you pay for

We were looking for a cheap place to stay for a ski weekend. The Hilltop is affordable. The room was clean. The beds were decent. Satisfied with our stay. The free breakfast looked pretty pathetic. We opted to go to a coffee shop in town.

Simple, affordable accomodations

Overall was satisfied - clean, simple hotel room. Indoor pool was a plus for cold climate, but didn't use it. Does require a walk through a covered, but outdoor causeway. Breakfast was fine (eggs, cereal, toast and coffee) and self-portioned. Plenty for all guests. Great alternative for skiing lodging to the limited and expensive options in Mad River Valley if you are willing to make the drive back and forth.

Vermont trip

The staff was very friendly and helpful. I took my dog with me and they treated her very well too. The rooms are really quite comfortably and larger than I thought, as well as the beds being made with crisp sheets, love that feel when you go to bed. I would stay there again any time and would recommend this hotel very highly.

Terrible, worst experience ever

When we arrived, they told us that since we did not put any references on the type of room, they decided to put us in the smoking room. The stench of the room was overwhelming. The carpet, the bed, the bathroom, the bed sheets, everything were dirty. To make the matter worst, someone else tried to enter our room after midnight while we were sleeping. Luckily, the noise woke us up. We found out the front desk gave the key to our room to another person. Seriously?!!! Will never come back here again!
