Adequate for our purposes

We were there to attend a wedding about half an hour away and it was easy to get there. We had a comfortable, clean and adequate room. We didn't need a lot of amenities for this trip. The staff was pleasant. Breakfast was adequate but very crowded space and a little lacking in "good stuff." It was all we needed this time and covered our minimal needs.

Geat Place to Stay for a Beer Pilgrimage

No frills place. We came to Montpelier for some good craft beer. This place is an easy walk to Hunger Mountain Co-op and Three Penny Tap Room. Room was clean and staff was friendly. Free ice was also available for filling our cooler.

Confined stuffy dark

My husband and I stayed 2 nights. Entire motel smelled like curry, whether is was candles or cooking I do not know. Rooms had windows that were sealed that looked into the interior walkway corridor. Tiny window on backside of room overlooking a dump area did not open so there was no fresh air in the room. The fan system was sporadic and it was very stuffy and dark. I didn't want anyone looking into our room from the front so had to keep curtains closed.

Renovation complete !

We stayed there for two nights in late Jan 13. Our room was clean and we had plenty of heat and hot water. The beds weren't the best in the world but they were very much tolerable. However, the walls are kind of thin. Didn't get to experience their breakfast because I like making fresh ski tracks in the early morning. I honestly couldn't be more satisfied for the value.

Dining tip: Short drive from hotel

Just a note that Village Pizza has a pretty good deal. Two '18 cheese pizzas and a 2 liter bottle of soda for $21.99. Not a bad tasting pie either. I would also highly recommend the Three Penny Tap Room. If your in the mood for a nice cold beer. They have a large selection to pick from in a very friendly atmosphere.

Econolodge Montpelier

My wife and I decided to stay at the Econologdge in Montpelier for our trip to Sugarbush mountain. We were very satisfied with the accomodations as the price was right, they had the amenities that we required, and the location was only a half an hour from the mountain.

Just a heads up that there is not much open in the city on Sundays. In addition it was difficult to find a place that served lunch. Econolodge provides a continental breakfast that we took advantage of and everywhere out just served brunch which didn't work out to good.

This place was awful

The microwave and tv in our room did not work. The manager came down and messeda ound with both for a half hour or so and finally ran an extension cord across the room to another outlet which allowed us to use them. This cord ran across the room infornt of the door we stepped over it eery time we went in and out. The break fast area was a dark little closet wih a couple of tables and one dim light. Very depressing.
