Very nice hotel, but....

This is a great hotel , but the pool was very cold. One morning, I tried to call guest services and the phone kept on ... ringing, ringing and ringing. No answer. Breakfast at the hotel was not good at all.. I would expect a hotel class chef to be able to make eggs and sausage. Well, not here. But, the place is beautiful, great location, and quiet. Considering we went with kids, it was nice.

The toilet broke the first night. The tub did not drain. The $5 coupon for not having your sheets and towel changed came to ... late for me to use. The heater broke on the 3rd night so had to change rooms after telling the maintainance guy "I did NOT try to more the heating units. Room was clean. Staff was attentive. Check-in was listed as 3PM. Room was not ready when we arrived at 3:30. We had to wait ... about 45 minutes. This was the only complaint I found. The bed was comfy and the room was large and clean (if you didn't look too close).

At night choose a parking garage on St. Paul St. Street parking cannot be found after 6PM. Most dining is with two blocks of this street.

There are many great places to eat within very short driving distance from the hotel. Downtown Burlington offers lots of fresh, organic options with friendly, down-to-earth service. The 11% prepared food tax is a hit, but the options are great. It is well worth going out to eat as the hotel restaurant is only fair and pricey for the quality and amount of food.

Spacious and cozy
Comfy in Burlington Nov 3, 2009
I was in town for an intensive training and really enjoyed having the pool to unwind. The rooms are spacious, and the beds ... very comfortable. The biggest disappointment was the hotel restaurant, which was overpriced with only fair quality of food . . . especially in light of all the amazing food options in town and around the area. There were nights where it would have been nice not to feel as though I had to go out to find something decent to eat. Overall, staff was always friendly and helpful.

The hotel was clean and orderly, good location for our weekend activities. The front desk would not honor my request for ... adjoining rooms but said we could have room next to each other.-Note: I was told no one can ever reserve adjoining rooms -only request them????. I was given 2 rooms-odd consecutively numbered, however there were only rooms on 1 side of hallway-meaning there was an even numbered room between us.The a/c-heat unit didn't work-the control switch missing and the doors squeeked so bad I woke up our "neigbor" every time I went out of the room.

My favorite place to eat was the Burlington Marketplace & Cafe. They are near the waterfront, reasonably priced breakfast, lunch, etc. You can also buy snacks for later. We ate dinner on the patio outside (relaxing music playing), with the view of Lake Champlain and the mountains.

Stay at the Sheraton -
David J Jul 18, 2009
Generally a nice looking hotel and the staff were accommodating. The corridor we stayed in smelled of toilet wastage and not ... pleasant. The stay was primarily a pit stop for the night but any more than one night and I would have insisted on a move to another corridor, however the hotel was fully booked.

--FREQUENT HIGGINS TRAVELER, COLUMBIA, SOUTH CAROLINA Jun 7, 2009
Downtown Burlington, UVM (University of Vermont), and Champlain College are a bit of a walk. You'll have to walk along a sidewalk next to a fairly busy street, up a hill and down for at least a mile. But, if you bring money and are willing to wait a little bit, you can catch the local bus which goes along the route and can save your feet a bit. They can also do occasional trips around nighttime and to the airport. For dinner, I highly recommend traveling to American Flatbread or Sweet Waters.
