Spacious rooms

The location was great for skiing many different locations in Vermont. The motel needs updating, the plumbing wasn't very good and the "large" continental breakfast was way overrated. The price was right for roughing it, but not for the family.

In Barre for business.

Been in and out of Barre many times and for the first time stayed in town. Very good location, manager directed me to an excellent restaurant. Snow overnight and they cleaned my car windshield. Yes, I will return however, I will reserve directly with the hotel .

Snowboarding adventure

I went on this vacation to have a fun snowboarding weekend with one of my really good friends. We wanted a place to stay that was convenient for us to stay and not that expensive. It was a good place to stay because it was relatively close to where we needed to go. All in all it was a good place for us to stay

Good value and location

The hotel was a great location for easy access to visiting a friend in East Montpelier. The neighborhood was quiet, the room and bed was very comfortable, and we enjoyed finding that there were interesting places to see in Barre.

Review Hollow Inn

Large rooms but not very clean. Good continental breakfast in the morning. Hotel a bit off the beaten path but okay value for passing through town. Charged and additional fee (aprox. 8 dollars) in additon to rate quote and taxes for using [...].

Most issues resolved

Most previous complaints seem to be centered around the remodel, which is now complete. Our room was spacious, the bed comfortable, the bathroom fully functional (the toilet had a slight base leak and ran periodically, though). The devil: 1. Exactly two pillows on a queen bed. We could have asked for more (and trust we would have been accommodated) but of course didn't think about it until it was time for bed. 2: Staff disappeared at odd times. We were locked out of our room (my fault- I misplaced the key) late in the evening and could not find anyone. Attempts to call in to the motel resulted in a disconnect (the PBX turned off, I guess). I went behind the desk and retrieved the second room key myself. Interesting. 3: Second key didn't actually work in that lock. 4: Didn't matter, as my pocket knife popped the door open with no trouble. Again, interesting. 5: No room make-up after noon apparently. We kept the DND sign on the door until about 1pm as we were enjoying a leisurely morning before an early afternoon appointment. Came back to find wet towels and unmade bed. Oh well. USE THE DEADBOLT. Do NOT leave anything valuable in the room.

Hilltop Inn is a great place for steak and serviceable seafood, especially for a fairly out-of-the-way place.

Roomy & Relaxed

Staff was limited but very attentive to personal needs and satisfaction. Environment relaxed yet professional, defiantly not "cookie cutter" customer service.

A non-chain option

A breath of fresh air to stay at a non-chain hotel. Locally-owned and managed and they really do care. Highly recommended for value, location and overall appeal.

Has great potential, needs updated!

The hotel had a very spacious room, however, the wallpaper was peeling and I felt like I was in my grandparents house. It has a lot of potential if the hotel was updated.

Amazing room!!

It was an awesome trip. We were really close to Burlington and Montpelier. We were able to get around easily, thanks to maps in the lobby. I wish the fitness center and hot tub were better though. The hot tub inside was in a dark and creepy area.

Sightseeing tip: Short drive from hotel

Grab a bunch of the maps at in the lobby. They are whimsical and not to scale but were a great help. They give a bunch of details and things around town and surrounding areas.
