great "road" hotel!
We have stayed at the GW many times on our way to visit our son at HPU. It is a perfect half way point and a welcome break from the chain hotels. This time, on a cold snowy winter day, we asked for an upgrade to the Jr. Suite with a fireplace. Well, that was a mistake! We are spoiled now, with the double vanity and the seperate shower and wc. It was a great place to finish watching the Super Bowl after a nice dinner in the bar. The only complaint is the bar is understaffed and has an odd arrangement of having to run downstairs for every food item. We will most definitely stop again.

All Around GREAT!!
I stayed in this hotel in October 2011 during my first trip to the east coast. I chose the hotel because of the historic feel. It was a fabulous hotel!! The staff was fantastic, the room was great, and the location was perfect! This hotel will ALWAYS have a special place in my heart because my fiancee proposed to me here. I will definitely stay here again when i visit and maybe a few weekends when i move there.

Big City Splendor with Small Town Charm
This hotel is a gem. After your stay, You will find yourself saying "what a find". The decor is splendid (the ballroom is majestic). You feel like you've walked into an opulent hotel in NYC. The staff, from the restausrant to the spa, is pleasant, knowledgeable and courteous. You will find yourself saying "I didn't know that kind and helpful people like this were around anymore". Customer service is 10 star. Try the Saumaj Spa downstairs. It is run by a lady who has experience in a physical therapy clinic so she is more knowledgeable than spa technicians that I've encoutered at the Broadmoor, Homestaead, etc. My neck has never felt better. Breakfast at the hotel restaurant is top-notch. I challenge anyone to find a better poached egg anywhere (NY, DC, Philadelphia, etc.). Delicious. The George Washington Hotel is truly a gem. I left with one question; "how can it be so affordable ?" It is.

Staff goes the extra mile!
We took a Thanksgiving holiday get away here and it was one of our best hotel experiences ever! Every staff person we encountered was focused on pleasing--right down to bringing us a free snack to the room to tide us over until our 3pm reservation to the Thanksgiving buffet dinner (which was amazing). We slept in on Friday, but no problem getting later maid service, extra towels, etc. Quiet, cozy, beautiful room with in-room coffee/tea brewer. A new spa is coming and the owners were doing promotional free massages in the hotel lobby--Fantastic! Roman pool was a little chilly, as was the jacuzzi...but great workout room. Close to lots of things; an easy 30-min. drive to Hollywood Casino. Unique gift shop, great jazz bar with sports TV. We'll be back to this great 90-min. get away from D.C.!

Short walk from hotel
Want a hearty delicious hot breakfast, "no frills"? Walk across the street to the Picadilly Grill and have "Denise" hook you up with a scrumptious cheese omelet, fresh made hash browns, chewy bacon and toast for barely $8. Old-school diner stools and lots of "local color" with the crusty old timers.....

Family get together
WE FOUND THE HOTEL AND HOTEL STAFF TO BE VERY FRIENDLY AND HELPFUL. THE EMPLOYEES OF THE BAR WERE RUDE AND ACTED LIKE THEY COULDN'T BE BOTHERED TO DO THEIR JOB.

Best Stay Ever!
This was my first visit to the east coast and i couldn't have chosen a better hotel. The place was absolutely gorgeous, the room was perfect and very comfortable, and the staff were very friendly and helpful. The only downside to this hotel is the parking. They charge you $4 a day for parking but if their lot is full you have to pay to park in the garage and still get charged for parking. I'll be moving to Winchester soon and will definitely be booking this hotel for my wedding reception and getaway nights for my fiance and I.

Wonderful value
We have been staying at this location for over 4 years. The desk and wait staff are wonderful, the rooms are large and accomodating, the restaurant is excellent, and the overall experience is exccellent di=espite the modest tariff. Enjoy!

An excellent restaurant. The only negative is that the wine list was formerly much better. Complain to Wyndham, it was apparently a corporate decision.
