Frustrated by cheap cable access- NO ESPN!
Planned to watch game on ESPN that night. Even asked at desk to confirm ESPN was available. Reality was that only ESPNU was available. Also, TV was very old & small. Other problems: glaring lights above bed; no stopper for tub, so no bath possible, & fan was noisy; could easily hear people talking in next room. Breakfast was also poor, with broken toaster, bad coffee, and no fruit - only toaster waffles, stale bagels, and 2 cereal options.

We got there 3 hours early and the friendly staff let us have our room early,that was great. Room was clean but the t.v was prob. from the 80s.The non-smoking room did smell a little of smoke. No fridge,microwave and even though they advertised WI-FI we did not have it.The room was only $50 so it was an okay deal but I do have to say I have NEVER slept on a more uncomfortable bed in my life. I could not sleep AT ALL.

Not great
First off, the distance from this hotel from where we wanted to go was wrong(by 8 miles) Not very personable at the checkin. Problem with tv. No hair dryer in room, not even any shampoo/conditioner. Shower was good. Toilet didn't flush. Good thing we only needed one night and didn't spend much time in room. We booked 2 rooms and a person was checking in just off the street when we got there. and got a better rate than us. Not happy about that. Overall, pretty disappointing visit.

Disclaimer: I don't use amenities, I don't care about the "friendliness of the staff". I spend minimal time onsite. My priorities are: 1. safe, 2. cheap, 3. clean. I give Red Roof Inn 3 stars because it meets my expectations for 1-3 above. I have stayed here twice recently to go to Summit Point for track events. Parking area in back is large enough to acccomodate my pickup/trailer combo. Grocery store, gas across the street. Mall, Walmart, autoparts stores, etc. all less than 10min drive away. ~25min drive to the track. Shower was hot. Room did not smell. Beds/linens were good enough. Basic continental breakfast. Wired internet (I didn't use the internet access. They gave me a CAT5 cable when I checked in so I could connect). AC knobs were broken so I popped the panel and turned the dials by hand (Because I got the controls to function I didn't report the issue until I checked out.)

I really can't say much other than--I only paid $51 for the night, so I didn't expect much. The room was clean, the bed was comfortable, etc.
