Hampton Inn Winchester-University-Mall

I was here to visit Shenandoah University. They let me check in early and had free breakfast and wifi. I would stay here again.

The promised handicapped room was anything but! My husband's walker literally could not get to the bed because of the oversize furniture. I had to move a chair into the hallway for him to be able to sleep. No adjustment on bill despite their hospitality promise and no reply to these same comments sent on Hampton Inn survey. In fairness the bathroom was very accessible, but the lack of concern to a significant problem is very troubling.

We were recently returning from a stay at another hotel in another area and was very disappointed. We were relieved to find the typical comforts of the Hampton in Winchester. We normally always book with one but had decided to try other chains and learned our lesson. The only suggestion would be to have a little more variety at the breakfast station. Other than that, it was clean, quiet and comfortable.

We were on a motorcyle trip from Boston to Tennessee and this was the first of 3 Hampton Inns that we reserved. I always have good experiences at Hampton Inns and this one was the same. The room was one that they reserve for lower fares but it was more than fine with us. The only thing we gave up was a normal sized window. We wanted peace and quiet so it didn't matter to us. The room was clean and comfortable. The entire facility was attractive. The staff were friendly and helpful. Free internet and a great breakfast buffet capped it off as a great stay for us.

I was entering a car show in West Virginia but this was the first time my girlfriend came along with me. So I had to upgrade from my usual motel truck stop cheap (possible dangerous)place just for a place to sleep overnight. Girlfriend was staying at the hotel while I entered the car show all day. This hotel is next to plenty of places to eat and across the street from a mini mall where she did some shopping. The king size bed is extremely soft to the point when sitting on the bed your body sinks down into it, so comfortable. The shower has great pressure (unlike home) and also has the different settings (unlike home). Traveling South to the hotel my car got very dirty and I needed a place to clean the car before entering the show. The staff gave me directions to a car wash that I was actually able to find and bonus was located next to a auto store. The 1 thing I didn't like was the black stain inside the toilet. I saw it in the mirrors while shaving and it looked like a giant bug under the rim in the toilet bowl. But just put the lid down and complaint solved! She was happy (and safe), which makes me very happy I picked a great place to spend the weekend!

When I reached our room, I was unable to access the internet. When I reported the problem, the clerk advised I could change rooms. Since our stay was just one night, I didn't feel the desire to change rooms just for one night. However, the next day I made a complaint to the manager on duty indicating I was not satisfied with the resolution of our issue; she elected not to charge us for the room that evening. She further indicated the site was undergoing a repair of the wireless system, and our particular room (#130) was one of the trouble spots.
