Decent hotel in an awesome location

Visited the historic triangle. Complimentary breakfast was not good. Very average items and mostly frozen foods.

Don't Bother

Don't bother staying here. Although the location was great-only a short walk from Colonial Williamsburg Visitor Center, the hotel is very poorly managed. Apparently they cater to large teen school groups over whom the hotel has absolutely no control. The pool was crowded with ill behaved teens without chaperones, and we could not enjoy even a short swim with my 8 and 11 year old granddaughters. We complained to the manager but nothing was done. The breakfast was very poor and, again, the breakfast area was crowded with rowdy teens without any supervision. The teens were noisey in the hallways which they often blocked for other patrons. When we tried to leave, we found our car blocked by an illegally parked car - again, the manager could do nothing about it, and we had to manuver and back up all the way out of the parking lot. The hotel was OK in and of itself, but unless they change management or policy, I would definitely never stay here again; and I could not recommend it to anyone with small children or without children.

Very close to Historic williamsburg

Visited Historic Williamsburg & Jamestown. Needs more elevators so you would have a shorter walk to your room. After walking all day- you don't want to have to come back to your hotel and walk even more. Also it would have been nice to have room service or a better continental breakfast. your only option for breakfast is to get in your car and drive or the continental breakfast which consist of cereal, frozen waffles or bread.

Delightful hotel with wonderful location

The location and services provided by the Woodlands is wonderful for historic Williamsburg. It's worth the slightly higher price of the hotel to be off the strip of chains and in the lovely wooded area of the Colonial Parkway and historic area. We are thinking of booking again in just a few days on our way out of VA.

Best hotel i've ever stayed at

I visited woodlands while my girlfriend and I were on a memorial day weekend trip to busch gardens and water country. When I arrived at the hotel they already had my reservation and there was no hassle finding my name. The building felt very safe and secure the noise was nonexistent it was so peaceful...They had an on duty officer for extra security and private parking lots that you need a room key to park so there was no worries about something happening to my car. The room we stayed in was very clean the beds were more comfortable than the one I sleep on at home and I could feel how clean the sheets were. I wish every hotel was like this one if so there would be no worries about where I'm staying when I book a hotel I've never been. It was the best I've been to the bahamas resorts and they aint got nothin on this place.

Spacious Hotel

Spacious Hotel with shops & vistitor center on grounds with free shuttle to Colonial Williamsburg-nice because parking near there is sparce.Great free cb & many amenities(pool, family areas & restraunt onsite)it was nice for a wkend getaway together,we thought it was still a good hotel to go back to with our kids as we could see it was also family friendly.we would be prepared to bring drinks(milk, juice) & snacks as the vending is expensive(& mostly soda no snacks) & everything closes at 10pm even on Sat. alot of day activities to do with in the hotel & surrounding areas.

A visit into Revolutionary History

The Woodlands is a great property with something for everyone. A short walking distance to the Williamsburg Visitor Center made it ideal for visiting the restored Revolutionary Village and shops. Travel to the village and to Yorktown and Jamestown included in the cost of the visit a plus. A friendly knowledgable staff made the visit more enjoyable. Seeing the groups of young people coming to the site and working with the older generation was a plus. They all seems to be well trained and behaved which was a pleasent experience for we older folks. The Woodlands is a primary place for those who visit Williamsburg, VA and should be noted in your suggested places to stay in Williamsburg.

Dining tip: Short drive from hotel

The Seasons in the Merchants Center of Williamsburg had excellent food and pricing. The shopping at the Merchants Center was also a good experience. Dining in the Revolutionary Village left something to be desired and pricing was higher than expected. The Huzzah resturant at the Woodlands was good for a simple meal at a reasonable price.

Good spot for a family

Good spot for a family stay. After a day of walking around Williamsburg our 8 and 10 year old boys really enjoyed playing mini golf (it's a basic course - nothing fancy) and swimming in the large pool. There were many school groups staying at the property but it was not noisy, although breakfast was a bit crowded.

Relaxing Stay

The hotel is really spread out and sometimes it feels like you are going around your elbow to each your thumb. That being said, it's probably why it is so nice and quiet all the time.
