Williamsburg Lodge

Hotel has been remodeled on the old side. Has a similarly decorated newer section. Both sides are well appointed and the condition is superb for a resort property. The food is surprisingly good with the addition of a chef recently acquired from Kohler Wisconsin. Knowledgeable in wine and cheese as well as general culinary execution.

Sublime spring break.

Our family wandered away from a cold and snowy central Pennsylvania in search of a quick and easy trip somewhere relaxing and fun, but edifying, too. We could not have found anything better than Williamsburg in early March. No crowds; no lines; no humidity as high as a flag on the Fourth of July. And the Williamsburg Lodge was sublime. Gentile, lovely, sophisticated, but unpretentious, and absolutely perfectly situated adjacent to the historic district. Sharing the spa and fitness facilities with the superb Williamsburg Inn added to the appeal.

Dining tip: Long walk from hotel

For the busy visitor, try the Cheese Shop at the far end of Duke of Gloucester Street, not far from the College of William and Mary. Sandwiches and soups to go are great, as are the outdoor seating areas. Great food reasonably priced.

Winter getaway

Perfect location to explore Colonial Williamsburg- very easy walking distance to everything in the old part of town, and just as close to the new shops at Merchant square. I was travelling with my 77 year old mother so wanted everything accessible - it was perfect. Hotel staff were all very helpful and friendly.

Sightseeing in Williamsburg

The only concern is that the room (in the South Guesthouse) had a small bathroom. One also could hear people in the next room talking - and having knowledge of what they were talking about! But, it was a comfortable little room and cozy. The staff were very nice and genuine, so overall a nice place to stay. They offered complimentary coffee in the restaurant. Staff serving in the lodge bar were excellent all around.

Beautiful place

We loved the Lodge, Spa, Lounge and the rooms were decorated very nice - colonial! But the rooms are noisy. We were on the 2nd floor (thank goodness) because the floors squeak loudly and you can hear people talking, taking showers and going to the bathroom. For such a nice place, I was surprised the rooms weren't built more solidly because the seem very new! I would recommend a stay there but maybe try the suites. They may be quieter.

Business trip

The hotel was very pretty. The Spa and Fitness room were lovely - lots of nice equipment. My room definitely had a "lodge" feel, which was fine. the bed was comfy. The bathroom wasn't as clean as I would have expected - not horrible at all, just some hair that didn't belong to me. Room service prices were a little crazy for the quality of food. The walls are VERY THIN - I could hear the conversation in the next room as it if were happening in my room - a little annoying at night.

Colonial Williamsburg vacation

All in all the lodge is very nice. The staff was friendly and helpful, especially the woman at the ticket office at the lodge. The restaurant was great for breakfast and lunch. The pools were closeby and not too crowded or noisy.

Excellent Location

Our family was looking for accomodations within walking distance of the Colonial Williamsburg activities and attractions. We were thrilled by the short walk to many of the events and taverns. If we found ourselved too far from the Lodge, we could easily hop on the free shuttle bus.
