The Best!

Gorgeous room with Federal/Colonial decor. Fabulous wallpaper and furniture. The bathroom was luxurious; best shower of my life and fluffy robes. Free internet with wifi. Free self parking. Easy stroll to all of Colonial Williamsburg. Be sure and buy your ticket, which admits you to everything that they charge for, from the concierge: Fabulous guy with a lot of info. You can use your hotel ID to charge purchases in the historic area to your room. They will also deliver purchases to your room or the front desk.. Couldn't be any easier and these guys put the Awahnee in Yosemite Valley to shame. We ate only one meal in the hotel and that was breakfast. White glove service, friendly and professional people without pretense. Breakfast items were basic and yet superlative. I ordered a cheese omelette, it was perfect. Bacon done with a press, sausage custom made. Silver plate service pieces, terrific coffee. Crying shame we were there for only one night as two would have been perfect. We didn't use the tennis courts, spa, etc. This hotel is not commercialized, no heavy selling. The Regency dining room was closed for upgrading the night of our stay but we ate at a tavern in town for the full Williamsburg experience. We didn't bring clothes for the Regency anyway. All in all, a must do in your life.

Dining tip: Short walk from hotel

Some of the online reviews for the "taverns" in the colonial area say that they are overpriced and touristy. Maybe so, but eat at one anyway. You get a decent meal seeped in history. The food was great and the service was warm and wonderful. It was a mini history lesson. Do it!

Williamsburg Inn

The hotel is very comfortable and has wonder amenities. It is beautifully decorated. Our room was lovely, especially the bath room. In addition to the history that is all around the hotel you are able to enjoy a game of golf, swim or just relax in the garden.

Paid full price!?!?

Upon checkout I paid full price, $407.90 plus $12.21 tax per night for a total of $828. What happened to the Orbitz per night rate of $329!?!? We complained to the front desk that there appeared to be blood stains on the comforter and blanket. They were replaced with fresh linen the next day. Besides not getting the Orbitz price guarantee and the soiled linen, the Williamsburg Inn is a fine hotel. Beautiful, well maintained grounds, great staff, location and food. Despite setbacks, would stay again.
