Courtyard hotel with two restaurants near Colonial Williamsburg
The Williamsburg Hospitality House is across the street from the College of William and Mary. The colonial-inspired hotel attracts families visiting the school. Classic brick architecture blends in with Colonial Williamsburg. The rooms look textbook American, thanks to striped wallpaper, drapes with valances and rich wood furniture. Two intimate restaurants, including a garden bistro, add to the charm.

Highlights
  • Intimate hotel across from the College of William and Mary and two blocks from Colonial Williamsburg
  • Two restaurants
  • Free underground parking
  • Outdoor pool and fitness center
  • Meeting space for up to 400

Rooms
The 295 rooms echo Colonial Williamsburg style with periwinkle-toned floral bedding, striped wallpaper and elegant wood furniture. Windows look out to a brick courtyard landscaped with flowering trees, tables and a shaded garden. Standard amenities include color TV, air conditioning, Wi-Fi and high-speed Internet access for a fee.

Dining

There are two on-site restaurants at Williamsburg Hospitality House, 415 Grill and Papillon. Both of the restaurants achieve intimacy in an upscale casual setting. Diners enjoy the club ambiance at 415 Grill. The restaurant serves American classics such as crab cakes with the signature corn tartar sauce. Papillon is a brick-covered beauty illuminated by Parisian-like globe street lamps. The restaurant dishes up a seasonal breakfast buffet and bistro favorites in the garden.

A wonderful Christmas

Because our kids live too far away for a visit, we decided to do something special for the Christmas Holiday. Colonial Williamsburg fit the bill and we could not have been more pleased with the choice of our hotel. The rooms were clean and comfortable, the lobby and restaurants were tastefully decorated for the Holidays and especially the servers and staff at both restaurants ( Papillion and the Grill) made us feel at home.If we ever decide to visit the area again, we will certainly stay at the Williamsburg Hospitality House again.

Great Location, decent Hotel

I have stayed at this hotel about 8 times since the early '80's when visiting Williamsburg and have never had a bad experience. The location makes it perfect for access to Colonial Williamsburg ( about a 4 block walk ). Once you know how to get around Williamsburg, getting to the hotel is quite simple from the major highways. The staff is friendly and quite helpful. The rooms are comfortable and clean. This hotel is starting and has for a couple of years, to show some signs of age and use. Williamsburg is a very popular and busy destination for tourists and business meetings. Most of the hotels where I've stayed, show various degrees of wear and tear. There can be minor maintenance issues at any of the hotels. This trip, the shower head was broken and needed replaced ,the vanity sink had very low flow from the faucets, and the mattress was definitely not of the highest quality. Still it is a decent enough place to stay. When I return to Williamsburg I WILL check to see if I can find a room here again.

Wonderful!

Our stay at the Williamsburg Hospitality House doesn't get any better than for Thanksgiving! The room was attractive and had a family feel to it. The hotel was beautiful and the staff friendly and helpful. The food was fantastic. The location was perfect. We cannot wait to go again.

Great Location, Clean, Inexpensive

Our one night involved a late check in, a room change at the desk, and early morning breakfast in the room. Staff handled our late check in and request for two beds well. Our food was delivered on time. What was supposed to be hot, was hot.. What was supposed to be cold was cold. Staff were friendly and efficient. The location, across street from William & Marry, is within walking distance to college, shopping and historic area and can't be beat. The price, $89.00 a night, was right. The rooms are clean and well kept. The only critique: it was probably redecorated 10-15 years ago, so the decor is dated colonial instituional. Not real fancy.

Money-saving tip: Short walk from hotel

Parking around the historic district and college seems to be all short term and/or expensive. So leave your car in the free (with check in) hotel garage, walk to all the attractions, and/or bring a bike, because the area is bike friendly.

Not Perfect But Close. Great Location

My wife and I stayed in this hotel for a weekend get away, The location is superb within walking distance of the historical downtown area including restaurants and shops. The room was clean and comfortable. The hotel staff was helpful and Polite. The only problem was a large group of teen-aged guests were booked on our floor which in turn were quite noisy and disturbing more than just us in our room. I think they should have been booked together on one floor on one side of the building or our room away from this large group. Could upgrade to newer TV's and Did not favor the add'l charge for wi fi ( $9.95) though.

Great location, below average service

My wife and I stayed in this hotel while attending a conference at the College. The location is superb within walking distance of the historical downtown area including restaurants and shops. The room was clean and comfortable. The hotel service was not so great - 1. I had to call the desk a second time upon check in after my original request for our room was not attended to 2. A large group of teen-aged guests were booked scattered throughout the hotel, which in turn were quite noisy and disturbing more than just us in our room. I think they should have been booked together on one floor on one side of the building 3. Our credit card was charged twice for our stay.

Best Location

Outstanding staff, outstanding location, reasonably good exercise room, and abysmal energy efficiency. The reason to stay here is location. It's literally across the street from the college and a two-minute walk to Colonial Williamsburg. However, the hot water was scalding hot, the air conditioner filter was very dirty, and the room window didn't open. Also, the lights are almost all incandescent and the room had a musty odor. A modest amount of attention to energy efficiency (like cleaning the air filters) would go a long way to making this a very nice place to stay.

If you're visiting with a prospective W&M student and want to sample the closest off-campus eateries you could not be in a better location. Walk out the front door and cross the street to the left. You're there.
