A Place to Stay

Upon arrival, we were somewhat taken aback by the appearance of the place. Some rain guttering appeared to have fallen and was tied to support beams. The place is older construction, and there were about 6 vehicles in the parking lot. The first room we were given smelled like cigarette smoke so we asked to move. Staff was very accomodating, and gave us another room that seemed a little fresher. We were pleased that there was a small fridge and microwave in the room. The sheets were clean. There were spiderwebs in several places in the room. I noticed spots on the pictures in the room that looked like it could have been mold. If modern accommodations and style are important to you, probably not the best choice. Upside - about 10 minutes to Busch Gardens, and there are restaurants, grocery stores, and a Starbucks nearby.

About right for the money.

It was a real money saver to stay at this hotel. We found the pool to be well maintained, and the room was clean. It could have used a few minor repairs (loose floor tile, marks on the walls); however these things are insignificant to us. We just needed a place to sleep while enjoying the wonderful experience of Colonial Willimsburg.

Plan on two days (one would not be enough) at Colonial Williamsburg. Check out the museums.

Charming little getaway

My friend and I stayed one night and enjoyed the location and the quietness of the place. There was a fridge that was a plus since we had eaten out earlier and had leftovers. The microwave didn't work but other then that we had a great experience and would definately recomend this place!

Do not stop here

Something positive about the stay was, the cleaning personal were friendly. The negatives are that the floor in the bathroom around the bathtub was cracked and sank beneath you when you stepped on it. The towels were very scratchy. The room smelled like bleach. We were placed next to rooms that were rented by the month. The person in that room had people showing up at all times of the night. It was next to impossible to get any sleep. The walls were so thin that you could hear everything that was going on. It was a good thing we did not have any children with us or we would be spending the night explaining or trying to explain what was going on next door. We had an AARP card that we could not use because the cleark said the manager had to approve it. He was never around. In all I can not recommend staying there.

Labor Day

Very friendly front desk and quiet location but continental breakfast (instead of advertised "full" or "complete" breakfast), rough towels, cockroaches, ceiling stains, near-unworkable TV remote, unadjustable shower head emitting single strong stream, and unplugged/unset clock/radio. Reminded me of why I usually stay in 3-star or higher hotels.

I would stay here again

After missing the turnoff to Williamsburg traveling from DC and having to turn around I called the manager to say I'd be pretty late. He assured me he'd wait up and was there on the computer with a friendly smile when I finally showed up. The facility is older and they seem to be remodeling one area. My room had everything work fine (especially the A/C!) with a new micro & fridge. It's older and not hi-end fancy but was a good, clean low-budget place with friendly, accommodating staff. Another plus was having a great classical station come in clearly--those motel alarm/FM radios don't always have good reception :-) This was a family visit not a vacation. It met my needs and would stay there again if I'm ever able to return.

Sightseeing tip: Short drive from hotel

The motel offered a nice breakfast (including waffles); located near a family restaurant; and 7-11 right around the corner. Though you didn't see them, it was only five minutes from Colonial Williamsburg, grocery, dollar stores, gas stations and probably not far from Busch Gardens, tho I didn't go there. It's located right off a main highway yet still far enough back there was no traffic noise to speak of.

Needs to learn the trade.

When we checked in we noticed that there were not very many people staying here. Being off season that was understandable. When we were placed in a room, it was towards the back of the establishment. The room was clean but the hair dryer fell apart when we went to use it and the remote control for the TV did not work. We proceeded to call the front desk and were told it would be taken care of right away. Well about 45min passed and I finally had to go to the front desk and the owner gave me a small hair dryer to use and a very old remote to replace the one that did not work. Went back to the room and the hair dryer worked but the old remote did not. We were tired so decided to tell the front desk in the morning. The next morning we got ready to leave the room around 10am and went back up to the front desk. Were told that everything would be taken care of that day. When we returned to our room at 3:15pm, we found that our room had not been touched!! Went back up to the front desk and once again complained about that as well. Told it would be taken care of. We left for our dinner reservation around 5pm. Returned to our hotel at 9:30 and STILL NO ROOM SERVICE!!! Now we were mad!! When we opened the door to our room, here comes the owner with a new remote and towels that he took out of another room two doors down! The only good thing about this was we finally had some fresh towels to use. The rest of our trip was satisfactory but all in all we were ready to check out the second night and just find another hotel but we were just to tired to mess with it. We have learned that when you pay cheap...you get cheap!! Lesson learned for future accommodations!!! I really don't think they completely know how to run a business. They were not American desent but still should know the in's and out's of running a hotel chain.

This was our first visit to Williamsburg Va. We were only 5 min away from the historic district and we had a wonderful time walking and enjoying the old town as we only could imagine how is must have been so very long ago!! Our dinner experience was also very good. We will return in the future to visit again.
