A Good Value

Ok petty complainers, listen up: If you want a 5-star hotel experience, don't stay here at the cheapest hotel... I personally just needed a place to stay and didn't want to go broke over it so I stayed here. My expectations were on par with the price but it was a little better than expected. "Work table too high, chairs too low,...." Are you serious person? Lol yeah it's not Caesar's Palace but it was fine for one night in an otherwise expensive town. I know when I've stayed in cheaper hotels in the past, it was the people that bothered me more than anything but nothing about Williamsburg is ghetto so the cheap hotel here was fine. Didn't notice any creeps, just other college/military type people. The people who said the manager was rude are just ignorant; he's not rude, he's of another culture and I thought he was nice. The room didn't have all the expendable items other hotels might have but there was soap- the only one of those things I usually use. There were a few spots the housekeeper may have missed while cleaning but nothing nasty and the linens were fine. I don't know if all the rooms are the same but I stayed in the back building and my room was actually quite big which was cool. Other than one door slam in the night, my stay was really quiet. The hotel is also in a very convenient location to food & shopping. I'd grade this harder if I paid more money but at ~$40, I was satisfied.

Great Location and Price

We stayed at America's Inn just for one night between our trips to Colonial Williamsburg and Water Country USA. We were expecting a really bad experience as all of the reviews suggested as much; however, we were pleasantly surprised when we got there. We had a king room with a pull-out couch. The room was very spacious and clean. A little outdated as far as the TV goes, but we never turned it on. Great place to stay if all you're doing is sleeping.

Needs help

Well, I was there to do a funeral. Accommodations were suggested here due to hotels being full...hum, I did manage to make it, hole in ceiling, bed in poor shape, curtains dirty, sofa smelled bad, they just need to spend some money and get it all shaped up. Great location.

Hostile Owner, Unsafe Rooms

As the supposed owner of the hotel (Matthew) told us: "If you want a clean room, go up the road to a different hotel." Short version: brown stains everywhere, broken appliances, doors that don't lock and hotel staff that will actually yell at and insult you if you point these things out. My fiancee and I checked into this hotel last-minute around 3am, and fell asleep before bothering to give the room a full inspection. A short list of problems: - Room door wouldn't safely lock - TV "power" button was punched in - Toilet actively leaking from the back - Broken hair dryer - Brown stains on many towels and pillowcases - Dead fire alarm - Missing TV remote - Couch ripped open I went down to report the broken lock and was met with utter disbelief that there could possibly be anything wrong. After insisting that I was indeed "closing the door behind me," the owner reluctantly followed me up to investigate. We were told that "toilets sometimes leak when you use them," and when we began pointing out the other gross items in the room, the owner became incredibly hostile and started screaming at me and my fiancee. He mockingly asked how much we paid for the room, and insisted that for the rate we paid, we didn't deserve a clean room. No, I'm not making this up. We paid for a 3-night stay, and he told us we could check out and only get charged 2 nights. As we had been there less than 10 hours, this was a little ridiculous. He stormed out, we packed, and went to the office. Matthew then refused to give us a receipt or allow us to check out, insisting that he had already done so. His exact words were, "When the charges come through, maybe I'll think about giving you a refund for the third day." He waltzed out of the office laughing at us. Called the cops. They compelled him to refund at least day three. The cops told us that they frequently came down there specifically because of the owner's behavior, which can't be a good sign. Dirty rooms, angry staff. Put your hard-earned money into a hotel that actually cares about staying in business.

Horrifying Experience with a Petty, Angry Manager

We decided to give this place a shot after a really long drive for a short weekend getaway. There was a whole, huge, horrible, disgusting mess of things that happened that made this 12 hour stay a gross memory, but let me just leave you with the sage advice of the manager (and self-proclaimed owner) himself: "If you wanted a clean room, you should have gone down the road." Do yourself a favor and do just that. Oh, and after we had to call the police because he decided to hold our money hostage, our friendly officer said "Oh, him? Yeah, we get called about him all the time. He's aggressive and defensive with guests. We're always here." Spend a little extra somewhere else and rest easy.

THIS PLACE SUCKED!!!!!!

THE ONLY PEOPLE GIVING THIS HOTEL A GOOD REVIEW ARE.......most likely the people that work there! I should have realized when I pulled into the parking lot and there were no cars in the lot on a Friday night in Williamsburg that it wasn't going to be good. The sink faucet handle was not attached, there was no knob in the shower to turn on the water - I went down & let them know and they gave me keys to another room. I told them that I was going to have dinner and I would move to the new room when I got back. When I returned there was a note on the door stating that they came in (while I was out & without notice) and fixed/replaced the knobs. I went down and spoke to them about entering the room(privacy breach) and while I was talking to him (the owner/manager) I used a cuss word while I was describing the situation (not at him)& he called the police! Really!! Then the toilet started overflowing - so much that it made the carpet wet in the other room! (CAN YOU SAY RAW SEWAGE?) So I called down there again - they got very nasty with me (remember - NONE OF THIS WAS MY FAULT, I JUST WANTED RUNNING WATER WITHOUT A RUNNING OVER TOILET) so I got nasty back at him & he called the cops again! REDICULOUS! They fixed the shower I had all hot wat or all cold water-Great!!! In addition to those situations, the beds were maybe a foot off the floor - old, stained mattresses & boxsprings, very dated. There were dirty finger/handprints on the doors -mainly the bathroom (YUK!). I travel to Williamsburg & Richmond a lot with my job & I have to say, this was the WORSE hotel I've ever stayed at - if there are problems with your room? - Oh well!! deal with it is what I was told! The place is very decieving from the outside - I would have never guessed it would be such a filthy - non accomidating - NIGHTMARE!! DON"T EVER STAY AT THIS HOTEL - THERE ARE TO MANY HOTELS/MOTELS IN WILLIAMSBURG TO HAVE TO DEAL WITH ANY OF THIS level of service & accomidations.
