This Virginia Beach hotel has a wide variety of room types and views of the Atlantic Ocean and boardwalk. The Schooner Inn is located near the Virginia Aquarium & Marine Science Museum. The property is marked by a mosaic dolphin and island wall murals. The hotel attracts guests on low-key family vacations and affordable romantic getaways. There is an outdoor pool, and whirlpool rooms have heart-shaped tubs. Expect full kitchens in the larger suites.Highlights
- Studios, kitchenettes, suites and standard rooms with ocean views and private balconies
- Some rooms with kitchens and Jacuzzis
- Close to the Virginia Aquarium & Marine Science Museum
- Large heated outdoor pool
Rooms
In the Schooner Inn guest rooms, color is king with mint-colored walls, dark carpet, tiles and multi-colored bedding. Rooms with kitchenettes offer small kitchen sinks, microwaves and refrigerators. Efficiencies come with two-burner stovetops, dishware and utensils. Two-room suites have a bonus sofa bed plus two double beds in a separate bedroom. For an extra dose of romance, request a Whirlpool room with heart-shaped tub, where couples can soak by windows overlooking the ocean.
Features
Visitors can ride cruisers outside the hotel, go rollerblading along the boardwalk or take a dip in the Schooner Inn's on-site heated outdoor pool. Prefer to work on the tan? Rent an umbrella and chair on the extra wide beach and enjoy the quiet peninsula and views of the Rudee Inlet to the south and west.

Brithday gataway
It was a good weekend getaway for me an my wife for my brithday. The room was good until the last night the heat came on and stayed on for ever seems like.We had to open the door to cool the room off.The hot tub was good ,but the jets in the tub was not strong enough for us.

Good experience
Excellent location at a price for oceanfront that can't be beat. No record of reservation at time of check in, but quickly resolved by front desk with room upgrade. Housekeeping mysteriously disappeared last full day before check out, but all in all a satisfying experience.

Virginia Beach Post Labor Day 2011
Am slightly biased because am former resident of V. Beach. This trip made me wonder why did I ever move away (though had my reasons at the time). All staff of Schooner Inn were courteous & professional. Arrived 2-1/2 hrs. early but was allowed to check in no extra charge with choice floor to stay on. Only time without maid service was day I slept late and requested no service. Ocean front view was great! Had fun walking beach and laying out in sun. Walking distance to breakfast and great restaurants for dinner in the evening. Only drove out for dinner once in 4 days; again excellent food. Toured NavStaNorVa (Navy Vet). Lots of photos every day. Only slight detractor from hotel is that the room safe did not work because battery would not hold charge. This trip definitely made me want to move back to Virginia Beach!

OK...
This hotel is the first one on the boardwalk, so its out of the hustle and bustle of VA beach. The shops and resturants were in reasonable distance, we took "the wave" to save on some walking. The whirlpool overlooked the ocean which was awesome. The pool was one of the cleaner ones that we've been in at VA beach. The only complaint I have is that the tub had little things (not really sure what is was) floating around in the water. When I told the attendant at the front desk they gave me some lysol wipes so I could clean it myself (did not offer to clean it for me).

Unbeatable location for the price
We were there for a two day get away. The location was great. The staff were friendly and helpful. The parking was easy on site. The room was very comfortable with a great view of the ocean. It was located at the very end of the boardwalk and was very peaceful.

I enjoyed the looking off the balcony out to the ocean....the only thing i was not aware of was that this a motel instead of a hotel. But no complaints, it was a good stay.

Nice room, great location, but COLD
The hotel is in a great location at the end of the beach walk. The room was clean and well-equipped (mini-kitchen was welcomed), and had an awesome private balcony looking out to the ocean -- worth the quite reasonable price! The staff seemed fairly friendly. The big problem was that the room was, and stayed, cold. With the blower on high and the temp set at 75 I just couldn't get the room to warm up at all (and I don't usually like an overly-warm room).
