Older but Clean

We loved the location right on the beach with Ocean views and steps right onto the boardwalk. The hotel is older but clean. Our room was next to the eleveator and the window/walls were thin so it sounded like people were right in your room. The rooms were equipped with fridge, microwave, safe, iron and two tvs. Plenty of storage space. The bathroom fan didn't do a good job when you took a shower. The rooms had no windows so you had to leave the door open to get any fresh air and our beach towels never dried. The free continental breakfast was very good, but the ceiling was leaking onto the table next to us. The biggest complaint we had was the Friday night we were there and King Neptune Festival was going on. There were several extremely loud and rowdy girls getting on and off the elevator, running up and down the halls. Below on the beach they were yelling and drunk and we were awoken on the 6th floor up even with the doors closed. When we mentioned at 4 AM at the front desk they said they were unaware of any noise and never heard a thing and nobody else reported any noise. We found that hard to belive. While I wouldn't say I'd never go there again, I would check out other hotels to see if there was something newer and better in the same price range on the boardwalk with an ocean facing room.

Nice option for a small family

The room was a suite with a bedroom, a bathroom, and a kitchenette / living room opening onto a balcony. The room was very comfortable and spacious - kind of the standard suite arrangement. Our room had somewhat updated decor and was clean. The building was built around 1982 and shows its age. One of the two elevators was not working when we arrived, but was fixed a day later. The metal trim the the hall way was rusting, signs are chipped and broken, etc. The room itself was in pretty good shape. There is no outdoor pool - a disadvantage. The continental breakfast is pretty simple, but they have a very nice covered deck so that you can eat breakfast on the beach. Great place to stay!

Shopping tip: Short walk from hotel

We would recommend the Waterford restaurant just a couple blocks south on the beach. The trolley system that runs along the Boardwalk provides a great way to get around without a car. Small kids under 38 are free, and adults can buy a 1, 3, or 5-day pass for low cost. Shopping is everywhere along Atlantic Ave.
