"Booked on [...]?Worst room for you!"

The moment my wife and I arrived at the hotel, we knew it was trouble. We were probably given the worst room because "we booked on-line." The manager told us the resort didn't honor on-line booking room requests. In addition, the room was in front of the elevator and in the morning we had to squeeze past garbage cans left by the house-keeping crew. Our wake-up call was the cleaning crew congregated by our room door. Book Barclays? Never Again!!!

Great Value, Good Location

Great value; we got a decent suite for less than what we were going to pay for just a room at other hotels. Toss in the oceanfront view, courteous and usually timely service and its a real winner. The only real drawback was the rather loud air conditioning system (but at least it helped drown out the sound of overhead jets and selfish fellow guests who thought screaming from the balcony at 11:00 PM was really neat...). We would definitely use this hotel again.

Not Bad at all

Easy check in, but 2 travelers elevators combined with the staff especially during morning cleaning was a hassle. Cont. Breakfast was really low quality and very limited for charges that customers pay. Overall it was clean due to the recent quick and cheap renovation, but still amenities are in Barclay are very limited. Burned light bulps, running toilets constantly, morning rushed uncompleted cleaning services etc.....view is great since all rooms are ocean front.

Barclay Towers, VA Beach

Wireless internet was down for 5 days, finally got it back up the last day of our vacation. Elevators were scary. Jerky, clanky, and doors opened eratically. Another guest told us a woman had to be extracted through the top of the evelator the day before we got there. It didnt ruin our vacation, we kind of expected something like this when we booked the room. It was the cheapest hotel on the boardwalk. Overall it was OK.

Hotel is alright but great location!

Our room was right by the elevator and we had some noisy neighbors the first night there but asked for a new room and the staff were very willing to move us. The hotel seems a little older but was in a great location! Mahi Mah's and Planet Pizza have great food and are a small walk away.

Great Hotel

Really great hotel. We stayed from July 1-7 and rooms were really big and included a living room with small kitchen. Most hotels that we've stayed in at Va Beach didn't have a Living Room separate from the bedroom, so I really liked all the space that this hotel offered. Only negative thing about our stay was the internet service broke on day two of our stay. You could only get service if you were in the lobby and it was still broke when we left on Wednesday. Would definately stay at this hotel on our next stay at Virginia Beach. :o)

Very happy with our stay

We were very happy with our stay. Nice clean room, except for the vent over the tub was dusty. Cleaned myself. I am a housekeeper in a hospital. Was a little nervous after reading some reviews. People are just to pickie. Had a 14 month old with us and she played on the floor a lot and stayed clean. Had to report a plugged drain in tub, but maintanience fixed the problem promptly. Very nice location, beach was clean. Would stay again.

Not all Hotel dining is good. some very expensive and not much of a variety to choose from. Neptune was very disapointing to us. One of our favorite spots was Max and Erma's in the Doubletree Hotel. Very good food.
