Okay for a few nights
The location was great. Hotel is in need of remodeling. Went off-season. Not too much going on in the town. Breakfast was good. Housekeeping forgot to clean our room one day. Front desk brought up towels.

Old tired looking room but the awful staff was the worst part. I would highly advise against using Barclay towers. I've been around the world and never come across a worse place.

Great Time
For the most part the hotel was great. Hot tub was great and we didnt have any problems other then the housekeeping really must have wanted us out Sunday morning. She knock on our door at 930 am even though check out was at 11am and woke us up. After realizing we werent going to make the 11am check out we called down for a late check and the front desk said no problem but then the same house keeping lady came back to our door at 11am and wanted to know if we had check out. Its not like its prime time busy season give us a couple mins to get out. I would stay again even with that. Room was clean and the rprice was right.

The Barclay Towers is located on the beach and was perfect while attending the surfing championship. Check in was smooth and problem free. Nice room, clean and large. Hotel staff were all nice. The continental breakfast was good. Many restaurants and music venues nearby.

Great value at the beach
For the money, we couldn't have been more pleased. The room was spotless and well stocked. The location on the beach was perfect. Close to restaurants and activities. Our daughter lives in Norfolk and the desk staff cheerfully supplied her with free parking passes each day. We found the maintenance and housekeeping staff very friendly and professional.

Not bad for the price
It was a close to the beach from the hotel. I left my car in the free garage across the street from the hotel. I never needed it because everything was a short walk. My only complaint was there was only 2 elevators for the cleaning staff and guests to use. There is no service elevator. You had to learn to time your comings and goings according to the maids' cleaning schedule.

A Nice Stay, Worth the Money
The suite was nice and roomy. Very clean and comfortable, full kitchen. I found the staff very friendly for the most part. The biggest disappointment was that Barclay had an indoor pool only. The Barclay Towers has a sister property next door in the Quality Inn. I was a little miffed that Quality Inn guests could use the fitness room in our hotel, but we could not use the outdoor pool in theirs. The continental breakfast was serviceable, but nothing special. I was surprised that there was no waffle station, as I have seen one at almost every hotel/motel at which I have stayed over the last 3 years. Overall, though, a very nice experience.

Short drive from hotel
if you are coming with the family, you are only a brief ten minute drive from wal marts, k marts, and grocery stores. the full kitchen -- stove, microwave, refrigerator -- can save you a lot of $ on eating. The Quality Inn next door, for instance, only has microwaves in their rooms, no stoves.

Good resort for the price.
I stayed with a friend at the Barclay while we ran the Shamrock Townebank 8K. The location is perfect and we were given an oceanfront room...I think all the rooms are oceanfront but please call them to see for sure. The interior is outdated a bit. They have updated the bathrooms but you can tell there's wear and tear - the air conditioning unit is especially loud. Our suite, however, had two separate rooms that were separated by a door. This would be nice if two couples were sharing the suite. The continental breakfast isn't anything special (donuts, bagels, cereal, coffee) but its free! The best part of our stay at the Barclay was certainly the staff. We had very good experiences with the staff. They were very helpful and happy. Make sure when you go you get the details of how and where to park. Our parking was included in our stay but we parked one night across the street (because the desk manager told us to do that) and it cost us $20 because we didn't park in the right spot!!! This was not a very good ending to our stay.
