Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites VA BEACH OCEANFRONT

Last minute booking with late check in seems a waste when you check out the next day. But our stay became memorable when we saw a lot of dolphins early in the morning looking out from our ocean front balcony. That's priceless. We also have hot breakfast buffet. We were seating facing the ocean where you could see dolphins jumping back and forth from the distance. Even for a short time. we enjoyed our stay.

We arrived the day after hurricane Irene had hit VA Beach so the carpet by the sliding glass door was wet. It did dry by the next day so it was no big deal. The beds were very comfy. I would've preferred to stay on the 3rd floor (view of the board walk and palm tree in front of room) as we did last year, but the 10th floor view was also excellent. The breakfast buffet was better last year though. My husband and I are vegetarian and they mostly had bacon, eggs, sausage, milk, etc. so we had to go out and buy a gallon of soy milk for our cereal and ate a lot of pancakes and bagels. The pool and hot tub also looked like it hadn't been cleaned in a few days so sadly we only went in on our first day and stayed at the beach the rest of the days. Though there are a couple things we believe could be better we would stay there again.

We have stayed at this hotel in the past and had been pleased with our stay so we thought we would stay again. Although the hotel was adequate it was missing that extra attention to detail. The staff were polite, but only in a "it's my job" kind of way. The housekeeping left a lot to be desired, too many things to name. The price was reasonable but I wish I had paid the extra to stay somewhere else

Hotel was nice, clean, and very reasonable. Front Desk Clerk was nice as well. Room was nice and clean, balcony glass was dirty, but didnt matter to us. Toilet did not flush correctly at times, as it has a high pressure tank in place of the usual flapper. Balcony chairs were dirty from blowing sand, but is to be expected on a beach!

We found the Holiday Inn Express to be comfortable and in a good location. The breakfast is a good start to the day. Overall, the hotel is a good value for the money.

The only thing I can complain about was the parking. Had to park down the road and go get the car in the rain :(.. The breakfast made up for it though!! I have never stayed at a hotel that served a full breakfast for free!!!

Thought I had booked the other holiday inn. The breakfast made all three of us sick, vomiting and other issues. We had bad milk, the breakfast tasted bad. I would of rather paid for a breakfast. The morning staff called us liars when we attempted to take the issue up.

We arrived on 8/26/10 around 2:30. The two things I would complain about were the rooms were not ready even at 4:00 (check-in time) because the sheets and towels were not back from the outside service. The front desk people were excellent trying to accommodate everyone with a bad situation. Regular housekeeping was slow to clean the room (5:00 pm). That aside, I definitely will come back and will refer friends and relatives. The complimentary breakfast is not the normal apple and bagel, it is a full fledge breakfast!!!! And yes, the cinnamon rolls are awesome. Once they get a upper hand on housekeeping, I would rate them a four star hotel!!!!!

The overall experience was pleasant and I would recommend and also stay at this hotel again.
