Hotel from HELL!
Econo Lodge Civic Center should be condemned! I have never in my 50 years of living seen anything as discussed as this "hotel". The room smelled like vomit and dirty diapers. The beds were about 2-3 feet off of the floor. The towels were supposed to be white however they were light black. I refused to stay there and I demanded a refund.

DO NOT!!!-DO NOT!!! I WILL REPEAT MYSELF-DO NOT BOOK A ROOM AT THIS NASTY HOLE IN THE WALL. SEVERAL FAMILIES LEFT WHEN MY FAMILY LEFT! HOWEVER, I REQUESTED-DEMANDED A REFUND! I WILL GIVE THIS PLACE A NEGATIVE 100000000000! -100000000000 I KNOW THAT A HOMELESS PERSON WOULD RATHER SLEEP ON THE STREETS INSTEAD OF THIS HOLE ION THE WALL!

Good Stay for the Money!
We only stayed for one night, so everything was great for that night. Not sure I understand why you couldn't back in to a parking space there. Also, the room had a bit of a weird smell. The room was clean, the bed was good, and the air condition/heater worked well. The shower was nice and hot with good pressure; the toilet handle had to be held for a little bit for a flush; the TV was large and the channels were good. It was fairly quiet, considering how close we were to I581. In order to get to the hotel, you had to be traveling North on Route 460. If you needed to go South (to the Civic Center or downtown) you had to go North on 460, then exit onto 581 South, then get off a couple exits up onto Route 11. All these places were within walking distance, but it was raining, so we had to go this route every time to get to the Civic Center/Downtown Roanoke. Overall, a good place to stay for the price.

Short walk from hotel
Sheetz is 2 doors down and if you want a sandwich, wrap, etc. for whatever time of the day, this is the place to go. Their coffee is good, the food is fresh and I don't think I've ever had anything bad.

Never Stay at Econolodge Civic Center!
WHEN WE ARRIVED WE WERE CHECKED IN, WE WENT TO OUR "NON-SMOKING ROOM" TO FIND OUT IT WAS A SMOKING ROOM WITH BUGS. WHEN WE CALLED DOWN TO BE MOVED THEY SAID THEY WOULD PUT US IN ANOTHER SMOKING ROOM. I REQUESTED A REFUND AND EXPLAINED I WAS SICK AND COULDN'T BE AROUND SMOKE, HE ASKED ME TO COME TO THE FRONT DESK. OH YES THE BUGS, WE TOLD HIM AND HE SENT A MAN UP WHO JUST LOOKED AT IT AND WALKED OUT. WHEN I WENT TO GET MY "REFUND", SO I THOUGHT HE RAISED HIS VOICE AT ME AND EXPLAINED THAT CHEAP TICKETS ONLY CAN REQUEST A NON-SMOKING ROOM, BUT THEY GIVE YOU WHATEVER IS LEFT OVER. HE DIDN'T SAY ANYTHING ABOUT THE BUGS. I EXPLAINED MY SITUATION AND ASKED FOR A REFUND AGAIN OF OUR $60.00, BUT HE REFUSED. WE HAD TO LEAVE AND GO PAY $90.00 TO STAY AT DAYS INN, WHICH WAS MORE WITHOUT THE EMMENITIES. I WAS VERY UPSET WITH THE ROANOKE MOTELS. THEY WERE BOTH DIRTY. I WILL NOT USE CHEAP TICKETS OR ANYTHING LIKE IT AGAIN. IT ISN'T REALLY CHEAPER AND IT GETS YOU INTO A WORSE SITUATION, THAN IF YOU JUST DO IT YOURSELF.

Cheap and clean
I was looking for the cheapest place in town. And I got what I expected. It was clean, and the continental breakfast consisted of coffee with powdered creamer and overly sweet small prepackaged pastries.

Good buy for the money
The Econolodge was clean and comfortable. We had a non-smoking room with a king size bed which was great. We were located across the street from the civic center which was the place we were going to.

Uncomfortable experience
The room smelled of tobacco and urine. We should have left immediately; however, we were tired from our travels. The bathroom had tiles hanging from the wallboard at the base; the toilet seat had the wrong size to fit the fixture; no shampoo was in the room; the room was generally dirty; paint peeled from the door frames; a cover-up plate was placed over a hole in the bathroom door. Any Econo Lodge will now be off my hotel choice.

Very Family Friendly
We had left some clothing in the dresser and when I called the next day, they said nothing had been found. I find this hard to believe. I also understand that this was our responsiblity too. Since we were there due to the shooting at VT, since our son is a sophmore there, our focus wasn't as sharp as it normally is. We would stay there again should the opportunity arise.
