Great holiday location

My husband and i had a wonderful stay at The Omni. Our room was lovely and the location of the hotel was perfect for a holiday feeling! Decorations and good restaurants galore. The Hard Shell restaurant...within walking distance... was excellent for dinner I completely recommend this hotel.

Awful Mattresses & Poor Service

My Husband and I were there to celebrate our anniversary. Firt thing was when we pulled up we did not want valet parking, so the parking guy tells us to park in the garage without allowing us to unload our luggage. [...]. After we moved everything and got settled, Chocolate covered Strawberries and Champagne were delivered to us with a note from the Manager, wishing us a happy anniversary. The clerk also recommended Sam Millers as a very nice place for us to eat....NOT!The next night we enjoyed Cary Towne and eating at the Tobacco Company...the food was so good that it made up for everything that went wrong...but my Husband refused to lay on that uncomfortable mattress.....he slept in the chair that last night we were there......Boy, was I aching the next morning from sleeping on that thing...the beds are awfully uncomfortable!!My advice is to eat at the Tobacco Company Restaurant.....but find somewhere other than the Omni to lay your head!

The most expensive, cheap hotel i've ever stayed at!!

My husband and I booked a room here, b/c we were going to a concert at The National. When we pulled up, and then walked into the lobby, I was very impressed; the place is gorgeous! There's a Starbucks, an Italian restaurant; gorgeous lobby. The room was cozy, nice big tv, super comfy bed; nice mini bar, etc. Pool was great and heated; but would've been nice to have a jacuzzi there too. But for such a NICE hotel; you have to PAY FOR EVERY LITTLE THING!! You have to PAY TO PARK, THE TV HAS MUSIC CHANNELS, BUT YOU HAVE TO PAY TO LISTEN, YOU PAY IF YOU WANT WI-FI, PAY FOR BREAKFAST (11.00 FOR A BAGLE AND COFFEE!!), THERE ARE MOVIE'S YOU CAN ORDER, SOME OF WHICH ARE $17.99 (TO WATCH A MOVIE IN YOUR ROOM!!), AND FORGET ABOUT ROOM SERVICE - $23.00 WE PAID FOR A PIZZA!!!! I just was floored at how expensive everything in that hotel was, and what they charged you for. Very disappointed. Should've booked a cheaper hotel and gotten free breakfast and wi-fi at least, and not had to pay to park my car!! That's absurd!! YOU'RE PAYING FOR A ROOM, YOU SHOULDN'T HAVE TO PAY FOR YOUR CAR TO STAY TOO! AND $21.00 A NIGHT AT THAT!! WILL NEVER STAY THERE AGAIN! AND WAS NOT HAPPY WITH SOME OF THE STAFF EITHER, VERY RUDE, JUST AWFUL. THEY MANAGED TO RUIN OUR ONCE IN A BLUE MOON GETAWAY:(

Price too high

The Omni hotel was very nice, but I think for what I paid the room should have been a better. I think what I paid was a good amount and it was not a very big room. LOTS of hidden cost, at any hotel, you should NOT have to pay for LOCAL calls, also valet parking should be included. I think they should park your car in their parking garage for free! Gratuity should be up to the consumer and should not be included in everything. I should be able to chose what to give as a tip.

Nice Hotel, Nicer with Capitol View

Great staff and totally competent service. Located in the financial district so is a great place for business travelers but if you're there for something cultural (i.e. Carytown) it's a 20 minute drive...though they do have a free shuttle. There is a YMCA where hotel guests can work out located in the office building attached to the hotel...definitely take advantage of it if you're sporty...it's a beautiful facility. Number one tip: ask for a room with a view of the capitol. The hotel is build on a corner and one side faces the old capitol (a beautiful view), the other faces the freeway...not so beautiful.

You don't get what you pay for

Reserved a club level room on the 18-19th floor for an extra $40 per night. My 3:00 check-in time turned into 4:15. The tub wouldn't drain. The cabinet door wouldn't stay closed unless you set something in front of it. We used the trash can...nice look! The desk was dirty with coffee stains...we don't drink coffee. The happy hour and breakfast provided were what I expected, thank goodness. The staff was nice and the location was nice but the Marriott Courtyard I stayed in the night before was a much nicer room for half the price.

Sightseeing tip: Short walk from hotel

The Capitol grounds are a short walk away with access to the building. Worth a look even if you don't go inside. Trevi's restaurant downstairs was not a good value either, and the food was just okay.

overview of omni

The location was great and the check-in crew was very helpful in arranging our rooms and explaining the city to us. We were in town for one night to attend the Funkadelic concert. We had a great time at the concert and thanks to staff, we were able to return to the hotel from toad place without incident. We arrived back at the hotel at about 1:00 am and I asked the desk person on duty if any thing was open that |I may get a bottle of water. She said nothing wqas open. i then asked if there was a convenience center in the hotel where I might purchase a bottle of water or something. She said nothing wqas open, everything was closed there was no water that she knew about. it became apparent that she had no interest in talking to me about anything at that hour so we left. The next morning I inquired about the convenience center and was told that it was on one of the floors. i told the desk clerk that the night clerk said there was no center. The ddesk clerk also informed me that room service was available and that I should have been made aware of that as well. She then apologized for the apparent rudeness of the night clerk and offered me 2 bottles of water from behind the desk. When I commented that the night clerk never mentioned them or offered any of them to us, she gain apologized. I know that one bottle of water should not be that important, but at the time it was. So, I really did enjoy the room, the check-in personell and the morning clerks the next morning, but I will look for other accomodations if I can't get a bottle of water.
