An excellent business hotel in the downtown Richmond area
My new company is based in downtown Richmond and during the relocation/apartment-hunting process, they suggested I stay at the Omni. Coming from Paris to Richmond is certainly a culture change, but the Omni was an excellent hotel to facilitate that move. It is situated right across from a fantastic bar/restaurant and every single person who works in the Omni is pleasant, friendly, and incredibly willing to provide you with good customer service. Thanks to them, I had the best introduction to the South and to the capital of the Confederacy. My room was spacious, comfortable, and had a king-sized bed that was way too big for just me. Although the valet parking price is a bit pricey when added up over several days, all of the people who work to coordinate the parking and picking up of your car are just so darn nice! Also, the hotel has a few baskets of apples and pitches of lemon water each day. It gives it a lovely touch.

I would go across the street to The Tobacco Company for decently-priced food and drinks. On many days (including Sundays), they even have live bands perform!

I enjoyed my stay
I stayed at the Omni Richmond for a conference, and I found the hotel staff to be friendly, the room very comfortable, and the location easy to get to from the interstate. It's also within easy reach to tourist-y sites in downtown Richmond and some great places to eat. However, getting back to the hotel via the one-way roads in downtown Richmond was a bit of a challenge and budget eating accommodations (I'm a grad student, so I'm on a limited budget) nearby are slim after 5:00. Internet is also an add-on for non-premium members, and you cannot use the room fridge because if you do, you'll be charged, and $2.95 for a can of coke is unreasonable it best. I would stay here again, but I'd recommend bringing your own soda.

Perfect Location
Stayed at Omni for my best friend's 24th bday. Perfect location because we wanted to go to Tobacco Company for Happy Hour which was right across the street and then Europa which is a few blocks away. I have stayed in many hotels, so I have very high standards for the Omni because of of the reputation. This had the best location, but too expensive for what you get. Valet is $21 and the room had no fridge or microwave and all the hotels I have stayed at usually have them. Perfect for a night with the girls, but not as superior as I expected.

Great Stay
Check in was a breeze and the room was ready and clean. Very nice hotel with a restaurant and Starbucks and walking distance to more great restaurants and bars. Most importantly for us, the bed was super comfortable and we had a great night's rest after a long day of traveling and fun with friends.

Relaxing Weekend Trip
The hotels location is perfect. There were many restaurants and bars within walking distance. The staff was very friendly and welcoming. We did have one slight problem and that was parking. The valet cost $20 and you can request the valet to get your car at any time which is a better deal than the $21 a day in the parking garage. However, we requested our car Saturday evening and waiting over 40 minutes still with no car in sight. The valet was swamped with a party coming in but never said a word to us while we waited ("We will be 10 more minutes" or "I'm sorry but we are taking longer than expected tonight" etc.would have been nice). We ended up canceling our request and calling a taxi. When we got back from dinner I mentioned the disappointing valet service to the front desk and she comped our valet charge very politely. Overall, I would go back.

Good
We were checked into the wrong room as it was already occupied (oops!) However, the hotel clerk provided us with two cold beers for our trouble and remembered me by name the next day. The Starbucks didn't have a microwave to heat up scones (What? This is 2012, right?) Finally, the hotel bar needs a new tv behind the bar as it does not get all of the other channels on the FIOS that the other t.v.'s get. P.S. the hotel needs a jacuzzi Otherwise, the room was nice, comfortable and well kept.

Havana '59 was a great place to dine, it felt like old Cuba. There is a smoking section if you wanted to purchase a cigar, good food and good service. Not a huge selection of food, but definitely out of the norm. In walking distance, safe area as well.

Richmond Omni
Inspite of having a broken water heater, our stay at the Omni in Richmond could not have been better. The room was clean and comfortable, and the hot water issue was not one as they had it repaired hours before they had anticipated. Staff there were most accomodating, and the only draw back is not the hotel's problem but the city -- what is up with these street tolls on their one-way streets?
