Charming but chilly

This is a nice downtown location convenient to Shocko and VCU. A very interesting old set of row houses brought together to make an eclectic inn. Lots of different room options. Our suite was large, but it was noisy due to the heat pump running all night because of the cold temps outside. Like having one of those window heaters in a cheap hotel. Despite the drawn curtains, a light in the outside connecting balcony shined in our bedroom window all night. The staff was very warm and accommodating. shuttle to and from our restaurant was a nice touch. The The bed was comfortable and the bath was quite nice. Overall a good experience, but not that great a night's sleep. I'd recommend staying here in more moderate climates!

2* features and service for a 4* price

The building is at the quiet end of downtown. There's no onsite parking so valet parking is the only option. This is fine and not badly priced, but when I pass over the keys I expect the car to be securely parked immediately. This didn't happen and my car spent hours on the street where I parked it and I had to ask for it to be put away. Not good. The building itself is poorly maintained. The rooms are big, which is good, but there's no fridge. The finish is poor, we had the cables from the TV that were formerly duct taped to the wall hanging loose, and the carpet was jaded. The building is an odd design and has an interior veranda. This is fine unless your room is at the end of the veranda then the veranda 'smoking area' is outside your room; which is 'great' when your neighbours congregate there for a smoke and a joke in the early hours. Breakfast was really rather poor. Staff are all casually attired and this reflected in their general attitude. Broadly an unsatisfactory stay at the price charged. Also, the area itself is pretty much untroubled by restaurants or bars, particularly on a sunday, so think twice before you book here on a weekend.

Surprising Deal!

We needed a room in downtown Richmond at the last minute, and booked a room at Linden Row. It had a ton of history, friendly staff, a good (free) breakfast, and especially good bath products. Would definitely stay again. Be careful of parking, though, as there are signs to not park from 7-9AM and it's a costly ticket!

Historic hotel, great courtyard

We really enjoyed our stay at the Linden Row Hotel. We got a great deal online, the hotel is pretty cool to stay in and in a good/walkable location. The valet service was cheap and quick. Yes, the rooms and building are dated...it's a historic hotel! The only complaint we had was that are room wasn't that clean (though the bathroom was updated/clean/great-looking). We would stay again and definitely recommend Linden Row. It's much better than your typical chain hotels.

Great location for our trip

We in town for an interview and this was a very relaxing place for the night before. Only issue was that it was a little noisy. You could hear every step from the room above you. But it was such a nice property it made up for the noise.

Time-saving tip: Short walk from hotel

They have a free shuttle for anywhere within 2 miles. But it's right downtown so walking is the best!!!

Mobile home like

Knew it was old but "run down" and dirty better describe it. Elevator literally had duct tape holding the control panel straight. Beddi g can only e described as dingy white. Carpet was stained and nasty!! Furniture looked like cheap mobile home furnishings. Residents of Richmond rolled their eyes when we told then where we were staying. Would NEVER stay there again!!
