Howard Johnson Inn Richmond West

The first nite, the carpet was all wet from the sink leaking. I told the front desk and maintanance fixed the leak, but our carpet stayed soaked for the next 3 days and it really started to stink from mildew. I told personel several times about it, but nothing ever seemed to get done and the smell just got worse and worse.

this hotel was bad, staff was very rude, could'nt get a early check in with me driving from out of town crazy stuff happening at this place will never book again

Room was not even ready and there were no towel available, when they gave us new room.

Great hotel for the price. Indoor pool and jacuzzi, outdoor pool also open during our visit. Stayed one night and enjoyed a nice breakfast the next morning. Only hotel among 4 on this business trip to have fresh fruit at breakfast.

My wife and I stopped here on the way back from Myrtle Beach and this place is bad...not regular bad, really bad. The room was dirty with splashes of some unknown fluid on the dressers. The bathroom had mildew on the tub (she wouldn't even use it). The "breakfast" consisted of 2 containers of some cereal, no milk, and a bag of bread. Save your money and look elsewhere This does NOT at all represent the kind of hotel you think Howard Johnson's would present.

Half way on my move to New York state from Florida I knew I would have to stop in the Richmond area, so I booked the room at the Howard Johnson's. This seventies icon provided the proper location, safety wise and not too far off the beaten path. Previously having read a review concerning the difficulty in locating this location, I was aware that I might have to circle the block, like I did. Also there was not a set area located for parking a 16 foot moving truck, otherwise this area was quiet and safe, very important for anyone just travelling through.

The location of this hotel was great, not on too busy of a street - pretty easy to access. The neighborhood everything closes at 12am so thats a but inconveinent! We did miss the entrance the first time, need to move the sign closer to entrance not past it! This hotel does need a bit of upgrading, one of the reasons why we chose this hotel was for the pool, when we were there it ws green and looked like it hadnt been cleaned since last year, and it was locked. There was no place to sit outside and enjoy the weather. The showers i think are all hooked onto the same hot water tank due to showers being very hot then freezing cold! Housekeepers never came at the same time. The front desk receptionists were very nice, but we will probably stay at a different hotel next time.

Finding the hotel was interesting because it used to be a Ramada so my Tom-tom couldn't find it. Room was okay but needed updating (wallpaper border--some missing and some loose). Breakfast area was interesting because it used to be a cocktail lounge. Food was limited and the server really enjoyed his night before at the Nascar racing. It was quiet and the bed was comfortable.

The hotel stay was up to my standards. Every place that i wanted to go to was close to the hotel.
