Great Experience

Cleanest, friendliest and most comfortable hotel stay I have had in 25 years of traveling. Was in Richmond on business and never look forward to spending the night in a hotel…until now. Looking forward to my next trip to Richmond and the Holiday Inn. Sport Bar is pretty nice too.

Holiday Inn, Richmond, VA South-Bells Rd

It was a new hotel, but that was the only good thing about it. I usually am a very easily satisfied person, but not with this hotel. When we arrived there around 12am at night, with an almost 4 year old sleeping in my husband's arm, there was a note at the front desk saying "will be back in 5 minutes. So sorry."We walked around to find someone, but noone showed up until after 5 minutes. The front desk person was dropped off from someone's car and she said she was sorry and gave us 3 free water bottles for the inconvenience. The room was pretty narrow. The space between the end of the beds and the rest of the furniture in the room towards the other wall was very narrow. The morning we ordered breakfast. Noone asnwered for a long time of ringing, finally I got to talk to someone from the front desk, who connected us to the restaurant below. The food! The egss did not have any salt (my daughter said:Why do these eggs taste like nothing?) The toasted bread was stale! One of the butters was opened and half gone (maybe it had melted or something, but it looked disgusting.) And then we got charged for the drinks even though in the hotel breakfast tag, drinks were included in the price. The same morning, I called the help desk to ask for the wireless id and password. The front desk lady told me she did not know. She never had this asked before. Why should this be my problem? I am the customer and she did not even try to find a solution to this issue. She was very rude. So I called the technical support # given in the hotel notebook and guess what it connected me to a health center. I was thinking, maybe I dialed the incorrect #, so I dialed 2 more times. And I also asked my husband to dial the same # and the same thing. Listen to this, later before we left the hotel for the day, I again asked the guy at the front desk, he provided me the id+password. He also was very helpful in terms of finding us a hair stylist around the area. He was the only helpful, useful person helping us. That night, when we came back to the hotel again, it had the same note saying "sorry, will be back in 5 minutes."

How much is that doggy in the motel

For those of us with pets, Holiday Inn charges more than a decent kennel. When I spoke to the clerk about this, the response was "I've worked in a hotel that charges $100. a night for a pet." Hampton Inns doesn't charge for pets and is as nice as Holiday Inn. To top it off the TV couldn't get standard stations and had to be reprogrammed, wasting another half hour. To be fair, the rooms are clean and comfortable; however, no one likes to be nickel and dimed. Holiday---=Good-bye!
