Great stay, except for the last night

I stayed at the hotel for eight days. The first seven passed without incident, nothing especially noteworthy about the hotel happened. However, the morning of the eighth day I wake up covered in hundreds of flea bites. I was bitten everywhere except for my face. I went to the front desk to check out and complain/let them know about the problem. They informed me that a similar incident had been reported a few weeks back. The health inspector was called and he found nothing. I was told that they'd call him the next day and have him take a look. No apology, no "that really sucks," nothing. I called the day after I got back and filed a complaint with the company. I should be getting a resolution within a few days, and how they handle it is going to determine if I ever choose them as my hotel again.

Richmond Econo Lodge

The hotel has a great location, right off the highway. We could tell it was an older hotel and building, just the feel of it, but it was clean and the staff was friendly. It wasn't a place we'd like to stay for an extended period of time, but was great for the price for only a few days. Not bad.

Not a bad Stay

The hotel wasn't hard to find at all... Great location easy to get back to the highway from the hotel. The bathroom was not so nice... the fan for the bathroom had no cover on there and it was clean but it had that "is it really clean feeling" But for a one nighter not a problem, If you are there for a longer trip i would say get somewhere else but for the price it was good.

DO NOT STAY HERE

Beds were not changed. There were hairs and fecal matter all over our sheets. It was blatantly obvious that the cleaning staff did not change the sheets, but instead just pulled the comforter over the highly visible filth! When we told the staff, they apologized, but only brought us new linens, we had to change the filthy bed ourselves. The toilet leaked. Ice maker had no ice. Road noise from the highway was excessive. Although the staff brought the amenities we asked for, you could tell in their voice and attitudes that they felt we were putting them out, and took way to long providing us with basic things like towels or sheets. The staff could not even provide us with a functioning alarm clock. Also the mildew stench was so bad the front desk had to come back twice with spray Lysol. The only thing we got was an apology. Again, DO NOT STAY HERE unless this is your absolute last choice!

Sightseeing tip: Short drive from hotel

Main Street Station in Richmond. A historic and still functioning train station. The station is right next to several museums and a farmers market as well.

Good comfort for the cash

The Econo Lodge was very comfortable. The staff was helpful and courteous if we had a question or concern and promptly brought us a remote control that was missing from the room. The continental breakfast was nice along with the coffee maker in the room. Location was great for getting on/off the highway and close enough to several different restaurants. Would stay here again.

Extra charges

This is one of those places that puts a safe in the room and would like you to pay extra for it. Also, they had some sort of daily facilities fee that I got upset about and they did leave it off my bill. Okay for a nights sleep while travelling to/from Florida.
